So, this year is officially flying by, I have proof of this by the fact that I just looked back to see when I last ‘Took stock’ and when I saw July I though that was too recent past for another one.  Then I read the post and it all seemed like ages ago, the middle of summer, Warped Tour, so much time has passed since then, but so quickly.  This must be one of my good reasons for keeping a daily diary where I just jot down what we have done (or not) in a day, so that I can look back and remember each moment before they slip out the back door of my brain and skip down the garden path of my memory.

I decided to forge ahead and do a ‘Taking Stock’ post because they are fun to write and see what I am up to at this very moment!  What are you up to at this very moment?  If you fancy a stock take, I have a blank list for you at the bottom of this post.  Hurrah!

Making : Very chunky knitted cowls, I made one which is a little wide, so I need to make another!  They take about an hour in all to make which is my kind of knitting.
Cooking : Pozole for the first time, I hope we like it.  I have never used hominy in my whole life, today I get to try it.
Drinking : Frothy coffee, but wanting pumpkin beer!
Reading: ‘Purity’ by Jonathan Franzen.
Wanting: The new David Walliams book – ‘Grandpa’s Great Escape’ to arrive from the UK so that I can read it to my 10 year old!  So excited to get it.
Looking: Outside and wishing it would cool down please, just a little at a time would be fine, but high 80s is not a late September temperature in my opinion.
Playing: Football/soccer, Swingball and basketball all in the garden (not at once!) now that the evenings are cooling.
Deciding: Which smells to mix into the hand, body and lip balms I am making.
Wishing: It was cooler in the daytime.
Enjoying: The windows open at night, so the lovely breeze can flow through the house.
Waiting: For my tomatoes to ripen so I can pick them.
Liking: That we have had a good aubergine crop even though I don’t like them.
Wondering: What people cook with aubergines to make them nice.
Loving: That I can catch the train into the city this weekend to go to the Strangefolk Festival at Union Station.
Pondering: Which colour to use next on my crochet blanket?  Yes, that half done one in the photo.
Considering: New boots for the winter.
Buying: Long trousers and hoodies for my boys.
Watching: The Big Bang Theory and The Great British Baking Show (not sure why PBS renamed it, but they did!).
Hoping: That I can get my hair coloured purple tomorrow and the colour sticks to my grey hair.
Marvelling: That I can actually use Photoshop even a little bit without my brain exploding messily inside my head.
Cringing: At all kinds of nonsense on social media and yet still I keep going there.
Needing: A new pair of arms after a killer pilates class this morning.
Questioning: The labels I have made for my balms, I think I need a re-design.
Smelling: L’Occitane Verbena perfume, I just love it.
Wearing: Still t shirts and Birks and looking forward to jeans and scarves!
Following: My kid as he zooms to school on his bike/skateboard.
Noticing: That the leaves are starting to fall, making the woods crunchy as we walk through.
Knowing: The plot of Harry Potter is not spoiling it as I read the books to my son.  I am enjoying reading them a second time around.
Thinking: I need to mow the grass.
Admiring: Lisa Congdon as I take her classes on Creative Bug.
Sorting: Markers which work from markers which don’t.  It is amazing that we keep all these pens and half of them don’t work!
Getting: Lots of inspiration for lots of things.
Bookmarking: She Who Rambles who makes me laugh and think and inspires me to do and make.  Thanks Reannon!
Coveting: Koi colouring pens in many many colours.
Disliking: When I am taking photos and my card is full. Erase. Erase. Erase.
Opening: A surprise parcel which arrived today!
Giggling: At the boys playing with cap guns and making way too much noise!
Feeling: Pleased that I have been working with lots of people this week, getting photos taken and balms made.
Snacking: On chocolate digestives.
Helping: With homework.
Hearing: BBC radio on the interweb.
