The 100 Day Project 2021

Ok, this year I am going to finish. This is my 100 day project mantra to be repeated from January 31st when the project starts until it finishes, er, 100 days later, I haven’t looked at the finish date!! I have completed the 100 Day Project at least four times in previous years, so I know I can do it and this year I will. So what to do for 100 days? I mean I could literally choose anything from knitting to yoga via mono prints and oil paintings. I had a few ideas which started with painting with watercolours which evolved into painting with watercolors in series of 10 themes. This further evolved into ‘100 days of series’ which would be series of themes/media such as collage, watercolour, gel printing etc. Then as I walked back from Target today I thought maybe I would enjoy ‘100 days of collage’ but as a series of themes, so the 100 days would be broken down into 10 sets of 10 days and each group would have …

The 100 day project 2020

The 100 day project starts tomorrow and I am in! I have done the project for about 5 years now and I have always got into it and ended up with a nice chunk of work. Some themes worked better than others and I hope this years will be a winner! In the past I have drawn mandalas and recorded ideas and last year I did 100 days of blueand I think this and the first mandala year are my favorites.   This year I have made a book and I am going to fill it with 100 days of black and white.  This way it will have a theme but I will also have enough scope for lots of ideas to fill it with.

100 Days of Creating with Blue, Days 41-50.

Half way!  Still enjoying working with all blue.  It is very freeing to only use one colour, it means I don’t have to worry about a new palette each time, I can just concentrate on the content, which this time has been a mix of collage and ink in brush pens. If you are doing the 100 day project, I hope you are still going and enjoying it. Find all of my project as I complete it on Instagram at #100daysofcreatingwithblue. Happy Monday x

100 days of creating in blue 31-40

Loving this 100 day project, it is so nice to have a fixed palette and a dedicated sketchbook, it is filling so fast I might have to add some more fold out pages to fit it all in!  Any new inspiration or technique I get to try out in blues and I am really enjoying it.  Almost half way and not struggling to get pages done at all, in fact I am often starting a few at a time and of course always searching old National Geographic for fabulous blue pictures.  Blue landscapes, blue cars, blue dresses, I want it all! If you are doing the 100 day project I hope it is going well and you are keeping up (I am already checking which number we are on almost every day!). Happy Thursday x

The 100 Day Project. 100 Days of Creating with Blue 11-30.

Just to prove how much I am enjoying the 100 day project this year, I got all carried away and forgot to post my 11-20, so I had to leap right to 11-30! I really am loving the blue.  Any techniques or ideas I learn, I try them in blue and frankly I am filling more pages than I had planned in my blue maths book, that’s ok though, I can tape/glue or sew more in. Are you doing the project this year?  How is it going?  We are over a third of the way now, hurrah! Happy Monday x

The 100 day project 2019. 100 days of creating with blue 1-10

Pages 1-10 of this year’s 100 project from my corner of the universe, one tenth of the way in! 100 days of creating with blue. So far I have painted flowers, collaged, cut paper and made a terrible selfie!  I am enjoying it and I am also allowing myself to work ahead, if the mood strikes I will make a page so that I can have some in my pocket as back up for days when I don’t make my blue page. If you want to follow on Instagram, my hashtag is 100daysofcreatingwithblue Are you doing the 100 day project?  What are you doing? Happy Wednesday x

The 100 day project, I changed my mind!

‘The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry’ to quote Mr Robert Burns. My plans for the 100 day project were not really that well laid if I am honest and they have not gone far awry, they have just moved a little bit and changed a little bit. I still plan to do the project and I am enthusiastic to begin on Tues April 2nd, I have merely changed my mind. I gathered some blue supplies for something else and I had a flashback to each time I think that a project all in blues would be a nice thing to do.  I have thought about this many times and done it no times, so I thought the 100 day project would be an ideal opportunity to make a lovely blue project. So, for the 100 day project 2019 I intend to be creative each day using blue.  Blue media, blue substrate, maybe even photographing or sketching a blue something. I haven’t decided on a hashtag yet (apparently decisions are not …

The 100 day project 2019

What to do when you can literally do anything, for 100 days? I have been deciding what to do for this year’s 100 day Project. 100 yoga poses? 100 found poems? 100 altered playing cards? 100 altered vintage photos? These are some of the ideas which have swum in and out of my mind, I decided found poems might be boring after about 27 and I did playing cards a few years ago. I enjoyed the cards project best out of all of my 100 day collections, so I decided to use them again but with other ephemera. ‘100 altered vintage pieces of ephemera’ will be my 100 day project for 2019.   I can use playing cards, flash cards, book pages, book covers, rolodex cards, business cards, library catalogue cards, vintage photos et al. I will allow myself to sketch on, paint on, collage on, stamp on and cut up the ephemera of the day. I will mark make, write words, splash ink and stick down stuff! In 100 days I should have a …

100 days of freeform mandalas 91-100

Hurrah for the completed 100 day project!  I finished a while ago but have only just got around to blogging my triumph. I also just realized that I missed a mandala off these photos, I made number 92 but neglected to include it here.  Ooopsy! I did enjoy the whole project, but I must admit that I am pleased to be done. I have made all kinds of mandalas and this project has been in part responsible for my new love for making stamps and some experimenting which went well and some which I  maybe didn’t love. Will I do it again next year? Most likely, yes! Happy Monday x
