‘I Like’ Fridays.

This week I have been liking these things. Choosing a new book to read.  I have finished ‘Everything I Never Told You’ by Celeste Ng and I really liked it and read it in record time – 2 weeks is a very fast read for me. Nothing like the pressure of getting it back to the library with no renewal option! So, now I have ‘The Memory Garden’ by Mary Rickert and ‘Station Eleven’ by Emily St John Mandel to choose between and I am pretty sure there is no renewal on these either, so I had better get started. Making mince pies with my home made mincemeat using Jamie Oliver’s recipe.  I love mince pies and I only have one pan which makes six at a time.  This is probably for the best, if I made more, I am sure they would disappear just as fast! Planning and making some new jewelry for Christmassy gifts. Helping to organise the 4th grade ‘Winter Holiday’ party during which we shall be making cards for classmates, decorating …

This week I have been brimming with creative inspiration which has been manifesting itself in painted cards, jewelry and letters. I bought some new inks today which took me right back to college days when I was studying for a degree in fashion design and Windsor and Newton inks were one of my favourite illustration tools.  I can’t wait to get playing with them again. The necklace with the orange tassel is about to be put on the shelves of my Etsy shop. These books are inspiring me – The Busy Girls Guide to Photography and The Art of Everyday Photography. These blogs are inspiring me –  Milk Please Mum, Susannah Conway and Hula Seventy. This course is constantly inspiring me –  Paint. Plan. Play. from Studio Calico. These prints and products are calling to me – Orla Kiely for Target. Happy Friday, I hope you are looking forward to the weekend.  Tomorrow I will be doing a Six Word Saturday.  Want to join in?  Please do!

Happy Friday!  I hope your day is going wonderfully.  Here is what I am liking today – Stocking/Advent calendar fillers. I was very happy to find these cool arrowheads today which I can pop into the Advent calendar for the boys or use a stocking filler. Making jewelry. This is a lovely long, wood necklace I have just made, all ready to go into my Etsy store. These really long necklaces are one of my favourites at the minute, they go with everything and can be worn long or wrapped two or even three times around your neck.  I picked the flowers as I walked home this week from doing some Christmas shopping.  Pretty weeds! DIY lip balm. I am looking forward to making some lip balm soon, I want to use herby flavours like Basil and Parsley and Lemongrass.  Sound good?  I think so!  There is a recipe to follow in this fab post by Tiny Rotten Peanuts.  I always see the DIY ‘beauty’ products, but never actually make them, I fancy whipping up some …
