Through The Lens Thursday #12. Frown.

I did wonder what on earth I was going to use for ‘Frown’, then I looked at the super hero and action figures around the house and they are all frowning!  I picked Superman for his very impressive frown though. I have a new camera which is very exciting so these photos are now taken using a Canon 6D and a fixed 50mm lens.  I am really loving the depth of field I can now capture, yay! Here’s hoping Superman is going to cheer up…. For more information about Through The Lens Thursday, go here.  Next week’s prompt is ‘In my Cup’.

Through the Lens Thursday #8 Twisted

This week has been freezing cold and snowy, so I ran out to find something twisty in the back garden.  The wintery branches and vines were ideal.  My neighbour’s garage is blue which made a great background. I have a new lens on my Canon Rebel xs 1000D,  (Canon 50mm f/1.4 fixed) which gives a lovely depth of field and I am super happy with it.  It is a whole new learning curve for me as I get used to the different perspective through the lens and I learn to focus in the correct place for the photograph I want. I did learn that I do better with this lens when I am using manual focus instead of auto focus.  Always learning, always photographing. I found this post at A Beautiful Mess very helpful in learning about which lens to choose. Read all about Through The Lens Thursday here. Happy Thursday, I hope it is warm with you!

Through The Lens Thursday #7 Candy

Rhubarb and Custard boiled sweets from the UK are the feature of my Through The Lens Thursday offering this week for the ‘Candy’ prompt. I remember buying sweets in bags from the local newsagent in the village where I grew up.  A quarter pound of sweets was a wonderful treat.  I was never a fan of boiled sweets to be honest, I liked jellies and dazzle drops best. What sweets did you love when you were a kid? Can you still get them? Next week’s prompt is ‘Twisted’, should be a good one.

Through The Lens Thursday 2015 #5. Table.

This is the table on our porch, surrounded by a bike, an old cart wheel and chairs.  Covered in finds from the beach, the woods and the creek.  There are pieces of pots and jars, a vintage BMW wheel hubcab, bricks, driftwood and a shell, accompanied by an old star from an antique store and a teapot from a yard sale. For Through the Lens Thursday this week’s prompt is ‘Table’, next week is ‘Polka Dots’.

Through The Lens Thursday #4. Sign.

This week’s photo fell into my lap to be honest.  I went out in the early morning to take a photo of a row of trees against a wall which are usually behind a row of cars.  I liked the look of the trees, so I grabbed a snap.  As I was looking at the scene in front of me, I noticed the great shadow first, then the sign on the door.  I like all the blues and the old warehouse in this image. As I was walking home I saw another sign which has been on this building forever and I am fairly sure this is not the profession behind the door!  I though the sky and the colour contrast was lovely, so I have two sign photos this week. And here is the photo of the trees! Through The Lens Thursday is an photography project hosted by Writing Wishing and GFunkified blogs.  We are taking a photo a week to post and share in a bid to improve our photography skills, specifically using …

Through The Lens Thursday #3. Delicious.

This week’s Through the Lens Thursday prompt was ‘Delicious’, so I grabbed the packs of crispy M&Ms from my babe’s hands, sprinkled them artfully into a vintage candy bowl and took a snap or two. Delicious.  I am not sure if they really are because once I had photo’ed them, I carefully put them back into the bags and returned them to their hungry owners!  Heck, it’s chocolate, of course they are delicious. Next week – ‘Sign’.
