Weekly Photos 50/52

  1. There is something wonderful about a little tiny parcel arriving in the mail from far away lands.  This tree and sweets are from my beautiful friend in Finland, I am sure she made the tree and it is fabulous! 2 & 3. I helped out at the library this week as hoards of kids came to make decorations for their trees. They swirled paint around inside plastic baubles and made some very successful ornaments! These cloths we used to protect the tables turned out pretty too! 4. Some finished ornaments. 5. I pulled out the watercolors for a page in my handmade journal. 6. Funghi in the countryside. 7. Country sights. 8. The giant tree is decorated with ornaments old and new! We have had a sprinkle of snow this week and lots more ice which I don’t approve of at all. The ice started on the night I was at the library and when we came out to go home, the car park was a sheet of ice.  I walked most of …

1. We had a birthday this week, my youngest son was 12!  Nearly a teen, yikes.  I made him a red velvet cake with plenty of frosting and grated chocolate. 2. I snagged these dried up flowers one morning this week with a view to draw or paint them. 3. This journal was my first go at a journal with more pages than just one signature.  It is three signatures all sewn together. 4. My husband bought us a new Christmas tree this week, it is a giant! Happy Monday x

1. Frosty leaves.  We have only had a couple of frosty mornings but I am sure that walking the dog will be a slippery experience very soon as ice starts to creep into the picture. 2. A part done art journal spread, I am not sure where this witchy lady came from but I quite like her. 3. Lots of leaves after a rainfall. 4. Funghi and leaves. I am also doing two photo challenges in December – December Reflections from Susannah Conway, and December Vibes from Vanessa and Jules. These are all happening over on Instagram.  Are you doing photo challenges?  I used to do them everyday but I am putting no pressure on myself with these! Happy Monday x

1. We went to a very full, very dusty, very vintage estate sale this week.  True treasure hunting! 2. ‘Fancy work’ box which had a few reels of yarn inside. 3. I didn’t buy much but I did snag this fabulous yo-yo.  I love the colours and the wear on it.  The size is just right too. 4. At the weekend we went to Rockwoods Reservations which is fairly local to St Louis, MO.  This is our favourite trail. 5. The bridge was taken out by a fallen tree so we had to climb down and up the creek bed. 6. Another fallen tree, this one looks as if it has been here a while. 7. Natural finds along the trail. Happy Monday x

Weekly Photos 44/52

1. Seed pods gathered while out on a walk in the neighborhood. 2. I have spotted some beautiful mushrooms this week! 3. Some beads I have pulled out of my collection to make into bracelets. 4.  This mushroom has been nibbled but look at the gorgeous colours inside. 5. The lights for  ‘Winter Wonderland’ are being set up amid the autumn leaves at a local park. 6. These crunchy seeds are crowding in the setting sun. At last Autumn is here, chilly mornings and nights with sunny days.  Changing the clocks might take a week to get used to, but I have to say that I rather like the darker evenings, especially with soup and fresh bread for dinner. Happy Monday x

Halloween is today, so I hope you have your costume ready and the littles are all set to go trick or treating.   My boys are a bit big for trick or treating, but they will accompany the younger kids on our street, that way they all get their Halloween night trick or treating! Here are some pictures from the last week.   1. My Mum sent me a recipe for Anzac biscuits and I have already made two batches!  This is the first lot, they are so delicious, they remind me of Hob Nobs or digestive biscuits and are perfect with a mug of tea! 2. We have spotted some interesting messages on dog walks this week, little notes, stamped into metal tags and displayed for all to appreciate. 3. The Don Colley road trip came to our local art store on Friday and it was very interesting to hear him speak and show some of his sketchbooks.  My favorite thing was that Don sketches in vintage ledger and record books, I love to …

  1. Teeny tiny mushrooms. 2. The trees are starting to turn into their autumnal colours, this one glows yellow in the sunshine. 3. A gingko tree on our street which I processed with the Diptic app to change the colours. 4. I snapped these buildings in Alton IL, with a view to sketching them. 5. Welcome to Alton.  Thank you very much! 6. Night deposit. 7. A hill climb view. The temperatures this week have reached 90 degrees and cooled to the 40’s, so all the clothes have been worn! I think we have settled now on warm days in the 70’s and cooler nights, but who knows, next week we could have hot weather or snow! Happy Monday x

Weekly Photos 41/52

1. I painted some loose flowers in my atlas sketchbook. 2. This scarf was an estate sale find and it is a beauty. 3. This frilly funghi appeared one morning this week. 4. Some leaves are turning into their autumnal colours. 5. We spotted a few turtles in the woods this weekend. 6. Many tickets for the Middle School annual chill cook off. 7. These plants appeared on the trail this weekend, they are not there now, so I hope they all went to good homes and that the bucket was left! 8. My youngest has been searching for bottles in the woods all weekend and he has found some very cool bottles from yesteryear. Isn’t it amazing how they are still sitting around 40 and 50 years later?  So now we are researching our finds using the interwebs. Have a great week!  Happy Monday x
