Let’s make jewelry

When I am having a blergh day, I often pull out my beads and make something, anything to get me out of my fug. Allergies have knocked me sideways this week and I feel like laying down and staying there most of the time. Which is frankly inconvenient. So onwards I must go, via the beads. Here they are. I want to make a necklace with this. And a necklace with these. And a wire hoop or heart with these. Let’s go and make stuff! First, let’s check the peas growing in the garden.  Distracted?  Moi?  Little bit.  The sun was shining yesterday and the peas were popping out all over the place.  We decided to leave them to grow a little bit more before grabbing a few to eat.  Hopefully the bunnies will leave them alone. This first picture is the big fat garlic growing nicely.  Hopefully the bulbs look as good as the leaves and stalks.  Can’t wait to dig them up in June and roast our very own garlic. Here are the …

Bead soup, a list and a necklace

I am participating in my first Bead Soup Blog Party this year and so far, it is going rather well. I have a wonderful swapping partner all the way down in sunny Florida and I have received a fabulous mix from her, so thanks to Charis Designs Jewelry for my treasures! I have to use a focal and the clasp, which should not be a problem at all, now I need to get my thinking head on and make some jewels!  Our ‘reveal’  where we have to show (here) what we made is in April, so watch this space. #52lists ‘Messy things I like’.  I am enjoying writing these crazy lists!  This one is the first in my new notebook which I intend filling with writings and lists and cut outs from magazines and lots of interesting stuff until it won’t close properly! Hearts, Owls and Clouds.

I thought today was going to be a non starter. I didn’t go to the gym this morning as I usually do. I had big plans to use the extra time wisely and get a feeling of work well done by 11am. When I got home from school, I wasn’t feeling it, I almost wished I had just gone to the YMCA and done a class to get me started. I thought it would be a treat not to go, but at 8am, I was feeling a little lost. You know, the rabbit in headlights feeling, what to do, where, how? A bit like when I get to the Y and my locker is being used by someone else, a momentary and mild panic, something is wrong, all is not as it should be. It techically isn’t ‘my’ locker of course, just the one I usually use. If I use another, heck, I might not find my non gym clothes, and I have a strict rule about wearing gym clothes outside said gym.  I don’t. …

New. These beads are new and I am so happy with the colours. I usually have a pretty good idea of the colours I am ordering so I don’t get a nasty suprise. Sometimes when there is an unusual finish on the glass it can be spectacular or spectacularly awful! I have to say that I was hopping with joy when I saw these gorgeous colours. Love love love them and I can’t wait to use them to make new jewels! More new.  Books, DVDs and a CD from the library, new to me, but borrowed for a couple of weeks.  I have to say I am almost always impressed with a trip to the library, so many resources and bang up to date.  What to do first, make something, bake something, read, listen or watch?

Beady Heart

For the photo a day, today’s was ‘A Favourite Thing’. I took a picture of a beaded heart at its beginning. I love to make jewelry  and it is exciting when someone buys one of my pieces and then I see them wearing it! Today my making focus is all over the place. I am washing, putting pots away, making a coffee, checking Twitter… and on it goes. I do like the whole social media merry-go-round, but boy, sometimes I wonder whether I need to duct tape myself on or just leap off and hope I hit some soft grass. I don’t like to post the same darn thing on every site, because I think that is boring and apparently I like to make more work for myself.  So I flit about on my little iPhone,  posting a photo,  writing a short sentence on a short sentence site,  or messing about with photo finishes so that the aforementioned photo is an interesting one. Exploding plants and impressive hail

Our whole street looks like the trees up and down it exploded. There are leaves everywhere, each grey roof has an even covering of downed leaves. Storms came racing through, tornado sirens yelled at us to head to the basement and we still got a pizza delivered! Poor guy looked horrified as it was pitch black and hailing when he arrived. It was only 6pm and should really have been daylight, even fading daylight would have been acceptable. Pizza was successfully delivered and he scuttled back to his car with the pizza bag for shelter! The hail sounded as if it was determined to break any windows in it’s path. No windows broken but it left lots of piles of icy pebbles. Hail is amazing stuff, takes ages to thaw and has wonderful patterns to each little vicious round piece. Some clear, opaque, translucent and some all of the above in one rock hard, ice stone. I wish I could make beads like the hail, each different but a collective brilliance. Wonderous Hail I want these …
