Lots of sketches and splats of colour in June.  Two weeks of pages were completed while I was on holiday in England so there are some good memories in those pages. I like ‘Don’t panic’ as I did that page right before we flew to England and I was panicking!  I am an airport panicker, always worried I have forgotten something or something will go wrong! Also, I like the sunnies which opened June, a pretty bad sketch but it makes me smile anyway. Are you doing a 365 project?  How’s it going now we are half way through the year? Happy Tuesday x  

Daily Moleskine 2018 May pages

May was a very floral month!  I sketched, painted and collaged all the botanicals along with the Botanicals in Art Journaling class at Get Messy Art Journaling.  I didn’t realize just how flower mad I had gone!  No complaints here. Some of my favourite pages are the flowers for heads collage pages which crack me up and the pages where I was planning and making stamps.  I am super proud of those stamps. Nearly half way through the year, I can’t believe it! Happy Thursday x SaveSave

Daily Moleskine 2018 April Pages

Lots of flowers this past month as I also participated in Creative Bug‘s daily flower challenge with Pam Garrison.  The flowers sit alongside vintage photos, vague figure sketching and a spot of collage. My Moleskine daily planner is filling up nicely and it is lovely to flip through the completed months and see what was going on. I use this planner to test new paint colours or practice a new idea or supply.  It is a no pressure platform to mess about for a day and then turn the page. Some of which I like and some I don’t but whatever the turn out, I always turn the page and carry on. Happy Monday x  

Daily Moleskine Pages. February 2018.

February pages went swimmingly!  I like almost all of them (which is frankly more than I can say for the January pages).  The beginning of my Moleskine daily planner is starting to get full and the pages are getting crinkly with arty stuff! I haven’t improved on creating absolutely every day but I do make sure each page is filled even if I do two days at a time.  I accept this as I go through my 365 daily project and I will continue to not worry about it. I have enjoyed using my Micron pen to get details in these pages.  There is also collage, old photos, mandalas and bugs! Are you doing a 365 project of any kind?  How is it going? Daily Moleskine 2018. January pages.

This year I have my trusty Moleskine planner out again and I am creating a little something each day. January is done and we are almost a week into February so here is a selection of pages from January.   In these pages, I sketched with ink, pen and paint, used my typewriter on an old photo, made some patterns and practiced drawing crystals. The diaries I use through the year and why I love them all!

Each year I keep a diary, not a ‘dear diary’ type thing but more a record of what we have done as a family, where we went, who we went with, celebrations and details of them along with presents received for birthdays and Christmas. I have kept this type of diary in a day per view layout since my first son was born 16 years ago.  It started as a baby feeding log and branched out from there as I added what we did and things he said day to day. Prior to this I was always a diary keeper (more along the dear diary lines this time) and I have a wooden box full of diaries I have kept since I was 13.  To be honest I rarely look back on the old diaries as they are a little bit cringe worthy even the more ‘recent’ ones. However the ones I have kept since we had a family have been invaluable from just browsing when my sons were young to checking to see what …

My ‘Create Daily’ Project (the one that made it through the year) 2017.

I started 2017 with lofty ambitions to do two 365 projects which you can read about here if you like.  This continued until about April when one fell off the wagon and wandered off by itself.  As I went through the year I did many monthly daily challenges which were made more possible once I decided to stick with the one 365 creation. The project which stayed on the wagon with me and I have nearly finished is creating daily in my Moleskine planner. This planner is not at all the ideal medium for an art project of any sort, it has terrible paper, lines on each page and is not very big. I am using the ‘large’ planner which is 8.5×5.5 inches.  Having said that I think it is the fact that it is not an ‘arty’ item to start with is one of the reasons I have continued with the daily arting in it.  There can be no pressure to create something amazing just the opportunity to create something, anything.  I have drawn, …

My Daily Moleskine 2017. November Pages.

Giant bubble wrap is a brilliant tool to use with the Gelli plate! I am putting far too many leaves into the planner!  The opposite page is a ‘ghost’ signature which is a word or name which is treated like an ink blot to make a shape or creature. I went on a creative field trip and used the train and museum tickets for this page with a gingko leaf added. Cut out from the newspaper and some colour added! Face painting with sumi brush and ink. Blind contour drawing and some brush script. Some birthday wrap and labels along with a rose petal. Gelli plate print of a fern leaf and gingko leaves. My colleagues at the library bought me a birthday treat! A ‘mini masterpiece’ inspired by the Fluid Art class along with some doodles. Can you believe we are almost at the end of the year?  I have loved filling up this planner and it is so satisfying to see it nearly full. Happy Thursday x

Daily Moleskine 2017. September Pages.

Another month flies by and here we are in October.  The weather is just starting to cool off and Autumn temps are on the horizon here in the mid west.  I completed my September pages in my daily Moleskine planner and the book is looking very full! I am really enjoying how these small art pages reflect what I am doing or learning and what is influencing me at the time. I love to see the variety of colours I use and what techniques I go back to time and time again.     This past month I have used blind contour drawings, gelli plate prints directly into my Moleskine, a list of new paint colours, vintage National Geographic pictures, inky moons and dried flowers and petals. Lots to do and lots to see, I am looking forward to what October will bring to my ‘arted’ days! Happy Wednesday x
