Weekly Photos 36/52.

At last the weather has cooled off a little and the mornings are almost chilly and damp.  This means that we are seeing lots of turtles in the woods and lots and lots of mushrooms!  I am still pulling a handful of cherry tomatoes off the vines every day and my chili plants have started to flower, but I am not sure I will have the pleasure of any chilies now that it has turned a bit more, chilly (!).                 1.  Some rather lovely clouds, look how the lower ones have flat bottoms, like they are resting on some invisible shelf. 2.  Little mushrooms with dewy stalks. 3.  Street outlets. 4.  A gaggle of mushrooms. 5.  Sunset and party lights. 6.  The gaggle the next day. 7.  A local furniture store. I hope you had a lovely week and that the week ahead is going well.

The August Break 18-24 and Weekly Photos 34/52.

Last week was hot hot and more hot with a lot of humidity.  That thick, custardy air which hits you in the face like a hair dryer when you open the door.  Lovely.  We have been sweating out all of our toxins, so we will have beautiful skin by the time Autumn arrives.  In the meantime, lots of sweaty laundry. On the morning walks to school we have been spotting snakes and turtles of various sizes and the mushrooms are abundant which always makes me happy! The August Break continues, we are almost at the end of August, can you believe it!  Here are photos 18 through 24. 18.  Jump.  Self timer on the camera and tripod and boing boing boing! 19.  Black and White.  One of the lovely mushrooms we spotted this week. 20.  Peaceful.  A new mag and sketchbook and lavender looking for a peaceful moment. 21.  Treasures. Rocks from the beach, I always look for unusual shapes and rocks with holes.  Marbles from the creek and acorns from the woods. 22.  Shadow. …

The August Break 11-17 and Weekly Photos 33/52

11.  Handwriting.  Chalk board on the door. 12.  On the Table. 13.  My Guilty Pleasure.  I was supposed to be running… 14.  Hands. 15.  Blue.  Truck and flag. 16.  Look Down.  Vintage ‘Life’ magazines in a box in a junk shop. 17.  Bookshelf.  Polaroid camera and car amid my book pile. The August Break prompts are getting my creativity flowing.   I like to be sure I take photos and make something or draw something every day even if what I make is a sandwich!   This week I roasted corn on the fire pit after we had hot dogs and s’mores for lunch.  The corn is destined for chowder and in the freezer at the minute. I listed a few new necklaces on my Etsy shop and the dog demanded I take his handsome photo! Have a lovely week!

August Break 4-10 and Weekly Photos 32/52

I have decided to add a few weekly photos into today’s round up, so we have the August Break prompts and some randoms from the week. 4.  Orange.  A glowing orange pepper. 5.  Three.  Lemonade bottles. 6.  Reflection. 7. Today is… raining and produced a heart shaped puddle! 8. Selfie. 9. In my bag. 10. Drink.  Mint, Lavender and Lemon tea, brewing in the sun. Last week we enjoyed the cooler weather, could Autumn be on the way?!  I spotted a bright door, we played dominoes, the sunflower is so yellow it almost glows in the dark and we found lost treasures in the creek.  I wonder who this watch belonged to? I hope you had a good week and that you are looking forward to the week ahead.  We are back to school this week, so we are having a love/hate relationship with that as we gather notebooks and pencils together and remember locker combinations.

The August Break 2014

I am joining in with Susannah Conway’s August Break this year and taking daily shots following her prompts and tips.  I must say that I am enjoying the e mails she sends out every day immensely, some are photos and tips from Susannah and some are guest tipsters like the wonderful Xanthe Berkeley.  Lots of ideas, inspiration and creativity going on! So, for the month of August, I will be sharing the week’s ‘Break’ photos on a Monday.  I am keeping my phone or camera handy and my eyes open this month hoping to get some great end of summer pics! Here are days 1 – 3. 1.  Lunch.  Jimmy Johns delivery sandwich while I have a quick peek at Oh Comely magazine.   2.  Pattern.   3.  Window. I found this learning French book and I love the illustrations in it.  It was published in the 1960’s and so colourful and ace! I am looking forward to finding cool stuff through August and getting lots of ideas. Happy week to you!

Weekly Photos 26/52 and Pink.

Last week was hot hot and more hot with a couple of storms thrown in.  I had one sick kid for a few days and we managed to Slip n Slide lots.  I dug up some of the garlic and it is looking good, there are some teeny tiny tomatoes growing too. 1.  Pink was the colour to find last week and I almost failed, managed to find a few though.  Part of the Color/Colour Lovers project hosted by Hula Seventy and Xanthe Berkeley. 2.  A rare, almost extinct pay phone.  I wonder if it even works? 3.  Slip n Slide in the sunlight. 4.  You didn’t think I would deprive you of a mushroom shot did you!? 5.  Itsy bitsy pine cones. I hope you had a great week last week and are looking forward to an even better one this week!  I am going to the ‘Vans Warped Tour’ concert on Wednesday with my teen….wish me luck. I will snap a few photos to share!

Weekly photos 24/52 and Color/Colour Lovers Red

Second week of the summer and all is well.  The weather is getting hot and humid which means that the water balloons will most likely be deployed this week. The lovely ladies of Hula Seventy and Xanthe Berkeley photography are hosting ‘Color/Colour Lovers’ the summer edition.  I joined in the winter project and it was amazing what you spot when you are looking for a specific colour!  Last week was red and here is what I found.  Of course you can’t have a red challenge and not visit the local fire house!  In fact all of these photos were taken locally. Be sure to pop over the Xanthe and Andrea’s blogs to see their amazing photos.   In other photo news, I snapped a few weekly photos too, which ironically all seem to be beige and green!  Apologies for the mushroom overload, but mama nature has been generous in the cool mushroom department this week. Next week there may be none (and I will be sad), so catch em while you can, that’s what I …

Weekly Photos 22/52

This week has been a hot and steamy one, the future of the St Louis summer.  My plants are loving it though including my newest addition, five little tomato plants which I got from my friend in exchange for some edamame plants.  I love that I can trade veggie plants! Friday was the last day of school for the boys, so that is the end of 3rd and 7th grade.  Almost three months off with no real plans, I wonder what we will get up to?  Are you off for the summer?  Got plans? 1.  Flowers rained off the trees after a storm on Monday. 2.  Delicious Tortas De Aceite. 3.  An early morning shaft of sunshine. 4.  Dewy dandelion clock in the early morning sunshine. 5.  1972 in a local wall. 6.  Juneberries off our tree, maybe heading for a pie?  Or muffins? 7.  Curling garlic scapes. We are looking forward to a week of late starts, Swingball and maybe a trip up the Gateway arch in St Louis.  I hope you have a …
