I am writing this post before the main event, the star of the content, is even here. I have seen it online and I have ordered it, but I haven’t clapped eyes on it or held it in my mucky little paws yet.
Fabric. I am getting rather excited about a fabric order. I have never ordered fabric online before. When I lived in the UK, there were plenty of fabric stores to go to and check out what I needed, have a fondle and a look, match up colours and prints, that sort of thing.
Here, I can’t find a decent fabric shop to save my life, I am no quilter and that seems to be the fabric of choice here in Mid West land. Never fear, there is always the wonders of the interweb, so off I went to find fabric on the computer.
I threw a few together on the screen and then another lot and another. All looked good and I was doing well, what seemed like hours passed (most likely did) while I was looking and co-ordinating.
I long for the physical cloth though, rows and rows of the stuff, so I can see it and feel it and scrunch it and match it.
It is hard to see online which fabrics want to be friends without them all being together in the same room, you know, chatting about what they will become.
As I write this, the lovely UPS brown truck stops outside my house and ta dah. Here is my fabric. Will I like it? Will it like each other?
Two prints and two plains and some ribbon. I see my sewing machine revving into action this week or next. I don’t think these prints can be friends, but they will play nicely with the plains I have. I am happy with my new fabric, but now I want to go and order some more….
Let’s sew! What are you making? Anything fun? I hope so!
Ooo. I love the first print. What are you planning for these? Sewing is not my strong suit, but it is on my list of things to improve.
I love to sew, and I don’t do enough of it. Hopefully this will change. I have scarf plans for these and I will report back when I have made a couple to show!
I love the second print. 🙂
Yes, I think that one may be a Spring print. It is a pretty one.
