Things to do with a cauliflower

Today I am linking up with Heike to have a little chat as part of her ‘But it Tasted Good’ series.  I picked on the cauliflower to see how it tastes good and what else we can do with it! Cauliflower is an ace vegetable, it looks cool and to think of all the things you can do with one. Cauliflower and cheese. Always a good dish, with slightly crunchy steamed cauli and a lovely cheese sauce made with flour and butter and milk and cheese. Extra cheese on the top with a few sliced almonds and a good toast to get the top all crunchy.  This is definitely going to taste good. Raw with dips. I like the sound of raw crunchy white mini trees to dip in some home made salsa or a yoghurt dip, but raw cauliflower really isn’t often a good option for me. I don’t dislike it, but I think it dislikes me as it gives me a stomach ache. So even though it tastes good, we can’t be veggie …

Weekly photos 9/52

Last week was a little warmer and then little colder, and then it snowed…again.  I had a root canal on Wednesday which instead of being the nightmare I was expecting,  dispelled all of the tooth pain I have been having.  Now I just need to drink lots of water to cleanse my pain killer abused liver. I made two bracelets of similar beads and the pictures above are of one of them.  I ordered some new beads and I am super excited to get them, I nearly bounce out the door to greet the mail lady when I am expecting beads in the post!  Will they come today?  I wonder. The colour of the week was orange which was another hard one to find, check out Andrea and Xanthe‘s blogs for some fab colour inspirations. Suddenly every traffic cone everywhere I go pops into my vision!  No, I did not take a photo of a cone… I did find a cool old truck which is parked locally, so I stalked it and got a couple …

Six Word Saturday

First yard sale of the year this morning, we got the giant car and some beads to hack up, wash and recycle. This amazing vintage suitcase was literally sitting on the verge and apparently had been there for a week, we checked there was nothing weird inside and claimed it as our own. After all we are supposed to get some exciting weather with snow and ice and rain and snow and ice, so, it would get ruined if it was left outside. Share your Six Word Saturday in the comments or over on Instagram #sixwordsaturday.

Through the Lens Thursday. Hands.

This week’s theme for Through the Lens Thursday is ‘Hands’. Not an easy one to be honest as the only hands I have here are mine (apart from toy hands I suppose).  So, out comes the tripod and some trial and error with the self timer! I snapped this one, then cropped and black and whited it in Snapseed on the iPad.  I like to look at my photos on the iPad as the screen is nice and big and I can see what is in focus or not and I can play with apps on there too.  I know, I need to practice Photoshop, it is on my list! I took this photo on the porch in the freezing cold, with the timer set to take seven continuous photos in the hope I would get one.  I took a few groups of seven and got one in the end! The bracelets and necklace in my hands are new at CatsEatDogs and I love them for spring and summer.  Layered up your wrists, they add …

8/52 Weekly Photos, Living Arrows and Purple

Purple was the colour of the week last week in the #colorcolour project thanks to the great minds of Hula Seventy and Xanthe Berkeley.  It is amazing what you spot when you are looking out for a specific colour.  I though I would find nothing at all purple, even though I walk past the purple wall at the YMCA nearly every day!  Purple flowers were in my Valentine’s bunch and I love violet sweeties.   I took the photos of Pablo with my Canon and I like the way they have captured him, especially when he kicks up the ground behind him like he is ready to race! I started a granny square using Pip’s beginner video (still not finished it, but I will and I will be sure to share my crochet triumph!) Mr Y and I went out with the metal detector into the deepest woods yesterday looking for treasure.  We found some old rusty nails, a couple of bottle caps and some bugs hiding from the cold.  Better luck next …

What have I been looking at this week?

I have been looking around at some marvellous stuff  this week, take a look- I am writing the weekly grocery list and looking here for meal ideas. Read anything good lately?  I have just finished this and want to read this . Do you watch lots of TV or just a bit?  I am liking these guys, they crack me up and this was rather interesting and a bit of a shame. A  weekend photo project, sounds fun. I want to go here and collect shells and walk on that beach. This recipe looks yums, rice and lentils aplenty. I almost gasped at the yellow field photo in this gorgeous portrait taking guide, it is so ace and there are some good tips too. I am trying trying and trying to learn crochet, so I have sought help here I want to wear this dress in the Spring with ballet flats (not loving their styling with socks and shoes to be honest) and a freshly made frothy coffee in hand. And in my snow free garden, …

Through the Lens Thursday. Window.

This week’s theme thought up by the fab ladies behind Through the Lens Thursday is ‘Window’, so here is one of mine. We have some very cool stained glass windows in our house and the sun gleams in through them creating lots of lovely colours and effects. I took some photos and edited them, then looked up and saw the sun highlighting the central blue and greens, so I snapped a few more and ended up with this photo. The glass colour and the sunshine work together to develop a sunset effect which is lovely and changes every few minutes while the sun is peeking through.
