Through The Lens Thursday 14. Self

I am joining Greta at GFunkified and Alison at Writing Wishing this year for a weekly photography improvement and practice challenge.  We have to use our camera on the manual setting, none of this auto, doing it the easy way nonsense and each week there is a prompt/theme to follow.  It is proving to be a great challenge and I am learning lots from other people’s photos and the prompts themselves. This week brings the dreaded self portrait with the prompt ‘self’.  In true selfie style I held my camera at a full arm stretch and snapped away!    As it was pouring with rain, I held the camera just inside the door while I stood just outside and got a bit soggy. I am just getting the hang of the F stop numbers the camera and which light works best with higher or lower numbers.  This was taken at F4.5 and ISO200.  Lots of learning and experimenting, I took 44 pictures of only half my head, some out of focus and some very weird …

3/52 Weekly Photos 2014

I didn’t take many photos this week, the photo a day prompts and a few randoms. So here are the randoms! This was one of the choices for the ‘black and white’ prompt for Wednesday’s photo. I used a different one, but I like the sun flare in this one. Talking of the sun, here it is rising through the trees on our way to school. The sewing machine came out this week to try out a bag pattern I have designed. It has given me lots more ideas for bags now!  Sew sew sew. Yesterday I tried out a S’mores Brownie recipe which is  yums!  It made more than I thought it would, I wonder if it will freeze?  Can you freeze cooked marshmallows?  I might be about to find out. Both of my kids have the flu, so today has been filled with watching ‘Wild Kratts’ and ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D’, drinking lots of water and moaning and groaning.  I hope everyone in your house is healthy.

Thursday selfie

It’s a rainy one today, but I am still trying to use my proper camera on manual, so I grabbed my teeny tripod and figured out the self timer and here I am.  Hello! I am wearing some CatsEatDogs wrap bracelets and a wood on leather necklace. By the way, I cannot believe that I haven’t run out of blog steam during National Blog Post Month, but onward I continue and now I am over half way.  I am rather proud! I hope the weather is better with you.  Happy Thursday!
