1. Flowers on the table.  Brought by our lovely neighbors who we shared some tomatoes with. 2. Shells from our holiday in Cape Cod. 3. I made some peanut butter chocolate chip cookies this weekend. 4.  A hole in a rotting log full of water.  I think I see an angry face, I am always seeing faces in tree bark, maybe I am a crazy person! 5. Lots of fungi on fallen tree trunks.  They look like a flock of tiny birds. 6.  These mystery blue arrows have appeared on the trail, I wonder what they are for? 7. Sunset over a local building. Happy Monday x

1-3. We visited Sandy Creek Covered Bridge State Park on Monday last week as it was Labor Day here and everyone was off school and work in our house. It was an impressive bridge over a creek where kids can paddle and look for rocks and arrow heads. 4. Near the park was The Old Curiosity Shop which sadly was closed as it was a Monday. I wonder what treasure is in there! 5. We spotted this old sign in a field so of course I had to snap a photo. 6. Lunch at Fozzies,  a local sandwich shop with a trailer along with the raised beds and vegetables and herbs. 7-12. On Saturday I was up with the lark (and the dog) to go to Mount Pleasant Winery for a fundraiser for Pedal the Cause hosted by Core 3 Fitness.  I took photos for the event and I got to visit the wine cellars which were amazing. The cellars sounded like crickets and smelt like well, wine. I got to explore the winery and …

I am a day late with weekly photos this week because of the holiday here in the States, of course this means that I will have no clue what the day is for the rest of the week! 1. A look at my dining table when I have my stuff all over the place as I mess about in my art journals. 2.This giant caterpillar was on the hot pepper plant early this week, we decided to leave him even though he was munching away at the whole plant including the chilli peppers! 3. The very next day the plant was almost bare, by the end of the week he had gone (hopefully to spin his chrysalis and not into a bird’s belly). 4. I indulged in a maple latte before my trip to Forest Park on Wednesday. Fall is coming! 5. A replica of ‘The Spirit of St Louis’ hanging in the History Museum. 6. Saint Louis residing outside the St Louis Art Museum. 7. Art inside the St Louis Art Museum. 8. A …

1. I have been painting faces with my sumi brush and india ink lots lately, I like this lady. 2. This gaggle of daisies has followed the one from last week. 3-4. My gelli plate has seen lots of action this week too, I liked making these rainbows in non rainbow colours! 5. I spotted these sappy pinecones on the trail. 6. More gelli plate printing, this time I have transferred my painting faces obsession onto the gelli plate. 7. Discarded air fresheners. I don’t like the smell of a new car and certainly would not want a blue tree which smelled like one.  Not sure about Black Ice either to be honest. I hope you had a good week. Happy Monday x

Weekly Photos 33/52

1. This lovely pink flower took a few days to unfurl and it is a beauty. 2. Orange flower upside down. 3. I hope no-one needs to catch a bus from this stop. 4.& 5.  I thought these fungi looked like a gaggle of butterflies on this old tree stump. 6.  Our local YMCA has emptied the pool to give it a clean following a summer of camp activity.  Here it is empty and ready to receive new swimming water. 7. This weekend I helped at a birthday party where the girls were making bracelets.  They were a lovely group and all went home with a lovely bracelet. Happy Monday x

  1. The tomatoes are coming along nicely, I am still picking a handful of ripe ones every day.  It has rained heavily over the past few days so the plants have tilted slightly, but the tomatoes are all growing and ripening. 2. We got a Sno Cone lunch this week.  I had a coconut cream sno cone and a ‘Chicago’ hot dog. Not the healthiest of lunches, but it was good! 3. The trees are starting to drop a few leaves. We have had a cooler few days and it has been so lovely. 4. The dining table during the summer, G.I. Joes and paints in harmony! I paint and sketch in my journal while my 11 year old sorts out his G.I. Joe accessories. 5. The caterpillars are making kale lace in the garden. 6. I spotted the most beautiful colour palette in these berries.  They are growing on a vine which is all along the fence in my back garden.  So I had to pick a few off and paint them and …

Weekly Photos 31/52.

The end of the summer holidays is upon us, this week we have all the school registrations and supplies to check.  The weather is cooling slightly and the mornings and evenings are much more pleasant especially when the dog needs a walk and Pokemon need to be gathered! 1. Mushroom spotting this week, this pink one has the best gills! 2-4. Ted Drewes trip this weekend.  A St Louis institution and this is the first time we have been!  We won’t leave it so long before we return. 5. More mushroom goodness.  I just love the textures on these little fungi. Have a lovely week. Happy Monday x

Weekly Photos 30/52

Today we are enjoying slightly cooler temps and some rain.  I walked the dog in light rain this morning and we both were grateful for the relief from the scorching weather we have been having lately. Having said that we are going to see more heat for at least the rest of the week.  Sunscreen and hats always at the ready! In the meantime I am sitting on my porch writing this and listening to ‘Steve Wright in the Afternoon‘ on the BBC iPlayer. Crazy lady sitting on the porch listening to the radio! Here are some photos from the last week. 1. Some weeds I picked up along the dog walking route.  I sketched them and took this snap. 2. This leaf was almost glowing with colour as it sat on the floor of the path through the woods.  Is Autumn coming?  Not yet I don’t think! 3. We have seen some beautiful cloudy skies this week, these yellow leaves are the perfect contrast. 4. Fabulous tomatoes at Tower Grove Farmers Market here …

Lots of poppies and mushrooms in my world at the moment. The poppies were a happy surprise as I thought they were all done, but no, some lovely ruffled petals bloomed in the sunshine. Although it has been a hot hot week, there is still enough damp in the woods to produce a new mushroom or two. There was a funny little crop of mushrooms all jostling for growing space. We have been clearing the honeysuckle from around the shed and found this sign written by the boys and their friends years ago. An arrow pointing round the corner and the words ‘Hide Out’. They all wrote their names under it! Happy Monday x

This has been a week of art and printing and colour!  Just how I like it. It has also been a week of homegrown tomatoes, once they are ripe they need eating, so tomatoes have been popping up in salads, pizza and sauce all week! 1. My first beefsteak tomato which went on a pizza! 2. I thought this van looked like the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine. 3. My first foray into printing this week, I started with a roller print and ended up with gelli plate prints too.  I printed onto lots of paper including this vintage music. 4. Dusk at the end of a dog walk and Pokemon hunt. 5. There are lots of mushrooms in the woods and I liked these star shaped fungi. 6. We had all the weather including a massive storm which we had to wait out in Starbucks, but we were rewarded with this ace rainbow as we walked home. 7. More printing, this time with the gelli plate and some dried honesty seeds. It has been a …
