Through The Lens Thursday #15. Baked.

TTLT 15. Baked
I may or may not have gone to the shops to get butter to bake brownies especially for this week’s prompt which is ‘baked’. Never mind that I ate a baked muffin for breakfast and I have some baked peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies in the kitchen. Oh no, this called for fresh baked! Fresh baked brownies.

In my defense my teen requested brownies and this recipe specifically, the Jamie Oliver ‘S’mores Brownie’ recipe minus the ‘S’mores’ bit!
Bad news is I can’t find the darn recipe online, good news is, I am willing to type it out for you!

Jamie Oliver’s S’mores Brownies without the S’mores…
Oven 400F
Line a 20cm square cake tin.
100g butter
200g chocolate (I used semi sweet chocolate chips)
4 eggs
250g sugar
100g flour
1tsp baking powder
30g cocoa powder

Melt the butter and chocolate.
In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until pale.
Fold the eggs and sugar into the chocolate which has cooled (we don’t want scrambled eggs!).
Fold in the flour, cocoa and baking powder.
Pour into the prepared cake tin.
Bake for 25 minutes until the top is crisp to the touch.

Cut into nice big squares, put the kettle on, make a cup of tea and enjoy with friends and family!

  1. Why in the world would you take away the s’mores bit?? Those do look delicious, though!

    • Well, the first time we added the marshmallows it was delicious, the next two times, the marshmallows were super chewy and not in a good way! So we leave them off now. Maybe better quality marshmallows are what is needed!

    • This is a great recipe, I also like Smitten Kitchen brownies. If you want the s’mores part, just slap some marshmallows on top while it is hot and give it a little grill to brown them. Ours sometimes end up too chewy though.

  2. Oh my goodness, that looks too delicious, what a beautiful photo. I’m having baking jealousy over here without an oven. Can only lust after other people’s baked goodies! x

    • I had to eat up the brownie of course once I had photo’ed it! No oven sounds terrible, but I bet you soon get used to it. Stove top baking…..?
