Sno cones

Sno cones. They get me through swimming. There, I said it (kinda), I don’t like swimming. Which is unfortunate because we go almost every day. I dislike the clothing rules, I would happily jump in if I could wear leggings and a t shirt, or any all covering item.  In fact if someone could invent fabric that didn’t cling like plastic wrap when it gets wet, that would be great! I hate hate hate the chlorine in my eyes and my hair (getting drier and drier here). Not to mention the tight, dry chlorine skin effect. Maybe this is as close to Botox as I will get, the chlorine tightened face.  Tight but dry, lovely if you are going for the reptilian look! I digress, (don’t get me started on swimming, now you know). Sno cones I do like, I like to choose the crazy flavours and see what mix I can make.   The crunchy icy treat with way too much colour and sweet syrup. My favourites are ‘coffee and cream’ (here in Brentwood …

St Louis Art Museum Grand Re-Opening and ‘Stone Sea’

This weekend I am joining in with Tasha Chawner’s weekend photo prompt.  The latest prompt is ‘hands’.  I wondered what I would use for the photo for a while, then stopped thinking about it. While we were at the St Louis Art Museum‘s grand re-opener, there was a stand where they were making seed bombs, using mud and clay with grass and flower seeds.  So my youngest got in and started rolling up seed bombs and getting nice and dirty in the process.  Well, here were my ‘hands’.  Busy making good things happen. We have been looking forward to seeing the new wing of the museum open as we have walked by it regularly as it was being built. We were not disappointed.  It is a lovely airy, cool space and smells of new wooden floors.  It is almost a museum in itself with the wide variety of art on show. It was a joy to see some of my favourite pieces all housed together, from Chuck Close’s  ‘Keith’  to the ever beautiful ‘Betty’ by …

What did you get up to this weekend?

I went out early (ish) on Saturday to trawl yard sales.  There was one at a local church and I had high hopes for treasure.  I wasn’t disappointed! I got four scarves in all, but these two are the prettiest. I think the blue one is silk, the flowers on it are so delicate, they might even be hand painted. The pink one might be a head scarf and it was ‘Made in France’  for a St Louis department store of the olden days called ‘Stix, Baer and Fuller’. The department store was open from 1892 until 1984. This scarf  looks very 1960’s, but I am not sure as I can’t find any images of it. Do you know any St Louis ‘Stix, Baer and Fuller’ history?  Do share.  You know where the comments are, get to it! I missed this pan when I did my initial sale walk through.  I spotted it when I had already gathered what I thought was my final choices.  I have been looking for a tube/bundt/angel cake tin for …
