Through The Lens Thursday #24 Car

I have been on the look out for a good car shot all week and I have to say this is not my favourite photo of all time, but it is a car and not the rental mini van we have had all holiday! I like the look of old beat up cars and trucks, but they are few and far between here on Cape Cod. This was taken at Chatham airport and most likely belongs to someone who has just popped out for a jaunt in his (or her) private plane! Next week is ‘tie’, so I am on the look out for tied things, or maybe a tie. Happy Thursday!

One + Four = Life. Weekly Photos 23/52.

Oopsie, I am a little late for the weekly foursome, but better late than never! I have some photos from our holiday in Cape Cod for you this week. 1. Wellfleet Drive in cinema hosts a flea market at the weekends, so while we were bargain hunting, I snapped the audio and visual of the cinema. 2. This must be the tiniest library I have ever seen! 3. The famed ‘Days cottages’ on the beach at Truro. 4. We went to the closed Air Force Base at Truro which now houses the Highlands Centre. Most of the base is abandoned and cool to look around. This is one of the basketball courts all overgrown. Have a fab Tuesday!

Want. Smell. Love.

I want this bag so badly, love love love it!  It is in the new Anthropologie catalogue, but I can’t find it online.  What a bunch of teasers!  It is out of my league anyway, so I will just gaze upon the picture of it. I am loving this summer fragrance. I waft it about generously! It is very light so can be wafted without anyone fainting.  I am not honestly sure what Salt Air should smell like, but this smells light and summery and just like salt air…. I bought these fab items at a sale last week. I use the yellow jug to water my hanging baskets and I just like to look at the colours and pattern on the mat. These are my very favourite bracelets to wear this summer. They are five wood elastic bracelets I got at Buddha and Beads in Cape Cod for $1 each and they are the best. This pile of summer is going to be a lovely bracelet this week. Snacks.  I don’t get my paws …

Shell pendants and button bracelets

Remember these beauties?  Found on Chatham beach in Cape Cod, holes and everything. I utilized those handy little natural holes and made some pendants and added a freshwater pearl for a little bit of fancy. I have also made these simple button bracelets which are great all layered up.  I use one fabulous vintage button on leather and let it be. I think I am liking these so much I am going to add them to my Etsy store for sale.  Want one? I found a new funky photo app for the phone, I am still playing around with it, but I do love it.  I used it to make the button bracelet photo.  It is the Rhonna Designs app and it lets you add text and icons and phrases and all sorts of bits and bobs.  There are lots of options and a great colour choice which I think is missing from alot of other apps. Check out the website (that’s the link a few lines up), it is a thing of beauty and …

June 2013 Photo a day

I cannot believe how fast June has zipped by (I am sure I say that every month!).  At the same time, when I look back at the photos from the beginning of the month, they seem so long ago. We have been on holiday to Cape Cod for two whole weeks, then I was back in St Louis for about 10 minutes and I was off to New York for the Alt Summit and a lovely weekend in Brooklyn. It has been hot and cool and wet and stormy. I followed the A Month of… prompts from Just B Australia for most of the month, but by the last week I was back to Fat Mum Slim.  Apparently it is harder to break a habit than I thought!  I do enjoy the FMS prompts though even though they do circle round on a regular basis, but that just makes for a new photo challenge, n’est pas?! Well, here are  my June daily snaps. 1. Tea 2. Story. 3. Fabric 4. Party.  Pie from Marion’s Pie …

Nearly going home

Aren’t holidays brilliant? I love them and this has been one of the best ever, two weeks in Cape Cod. We have have had all the weather available except snow and loved it! What else is brilliant about holidays? Going home! I love the going home part. I don’t love the trip to the airport and the waiting and waiting and taking your shoes off and holding up your jeans while they check your belt for any deadly metal. Mine has no deadly metal, it is a very kind belt, but it is needed in the ‘holding up my jeans and not flashing anyone while I take off my potentially killer shoes’ department. The boys went fishing and caught weed and something so huge it chewed off the fishy lure thing on the end of the line. We spotted lots of wildlife, including horseshoe crabs, gray seals, a coyote which was very cool and just behind our cottage (eek), birds birds and more birds, fiddler crabs (whoever invented those things was clearly drunk) and chipmunks …

More fabulous finds and Hanger B Eatery

I can’t wait to hang these on a pendant or two when I get home to my jewelry equipment, they even have natural holes. I have also collected some more smooth shell shapes and pebbles which I am hoping to drill and make jewels from. We found these empty oyster shells attached to rocks at the local beach. They are like little ready made display items or little ornaments. Yesterday Bodhi wanted to bring back a big sea star which was a bit whiffy to say the least. After a lot of huffing and puffing he was persuaded to leave it and I said I would find him a more desirable sea star, expecting to make a trip to the gift shop which sells dried out sea critters. Little did I know that today I would find this teeny tiny fella washed up and dried out with some seaweed. We ate at Hanger B Eatery today and they had this fab weather station! My favorite is ‘tornado = no stone’! Hanger B at Chatham airport …

Ten on the 10th June 2013

For this month’s ten on the tenth, I decided to use Hipstamatic and use ‘shake to random’, so I don’t have to spend time agonizing over the best film lens combo. Some seem to have turned out well and some a bit crazy. My Hipstamatic seemed to like the bonkers Salvador film today! I have put the film/lens combo under each picture. Melodie and Ina’s 1982 This casual sign on the beach makes me smile in a nervous manner. The nonchalant mention of seals, jellyfish, sharks, strong currents….. Should it not read seals, jellyfish, SHARKS (aaarrrrrggghhhhh), strong currents? Tinto 1848 and BlacKeys B&W Bodhi trying to catch a shark James M and Rock BW-11 My reading matter even though the beach was bloody freezing! Salvador 84 and Big Up Crazy bonkers photo of the Chatham Light. Salvador 84 and AO BW Very pretty flowers made creepy I think I cheated here and forgot to shake to random. Watts and RTV Ice? GSQUAD and Rock BW-11 Shark! Salvador 84 and Blanko The fish market was open …
