Packing Tape Image Transfer Ideas.

I was browsing Creative Bug this week and came across the ‘Image Transfer’ class which to be honest I would have skipped, but my youngest wanted to have a look. So we watched the intro and the first lesson which was packing tape image transfer. We had tape and we had images in magazines and old books, so we thought we would give it a go and it looked pretty straightforward. We found that book images worked best, black and white were especially effective. We didn’t use photocopies, but I would imagine that they would work well too. The key is to find a picture or part of a picture which will fit within the parameters of the tape. No good picking a big image with you can only partly use, if you want the whole thing. Pick out the best part of the picture and place your tape over that. Once the tape is firmly pressed down with no air bubbles (I used a ruler to rub the tape onto the paper), tear or …

Six Word Saturday

I made some ‘no knead’ bread this morning after it had been rising all night, had a slice with Marmite and did a bit of jigsaw puzzle. Our library lends jigsaw puzzles now which is a good thing, except I think we might have done them all by the end of the week! Don’t you love a puzzle? They remind me of my Grandma who always had one on the go and usually with a bazillion pieces.

Why can’t I part with this? Or this or this?

I am trying to have a clear out and I keep reading about how people are doing it so well, I mean look at Annette from I Give you the Verbs and Tracie at Beets and Birch. Bish bash bosh, cleared out and tidy wardrobe, no 1980’s outfits lurking in these ladies closets. So, why is it then that when I charge at my clothes with a hard head and a trash bag do I manage to pull out a single scraggy t shirt which is in no state to even send to charity. How do people fill bags? It isn’t like my wardrobe is minimal, I need to get rid of stuff and there is plenty of stuff in there which firmly falls into the ‘haven’t worn in 2 years’ or ‘doesn’t fit’ or ‘I don’t really like it anymore’ categories. Here are the holdback areas I need to address- 1. I might like it again (yeah, when the 90’s are cool again and I am 60 years old) 2. It might fit again …

Weekly Photos 26/52.

1. I had a little chat with the local owl this week as he sat on a branch and looked at me over his back. I love that owls can turn their head all the round to face the other way! 2. This tray was in a antique mall and I like the buildings on it and the style in which they are drawn. I didn’t buy the tray, but snapped a photo, so maybe I can get inspiration from it to draw my own cute buildings. 3. The creek has flooded up and down so much lately we haven’t been exploring for a while, but we went for a paddle this weekend and said ‘Hi’ to Mrs Duck and her ducklings as they swam and waddled by us. 4. A mandala and the mess I make when I am drawing and painting them! I hope you had a good week, the weather here had been a bit bonkers, storms and sun and heat and hail! Hopefully this next week will be more settled. We …

Six Word Saturday

We went for a walk in the creek this afternoon and we found the usual marble and the more unusual find – a Buzz Lightyear laser gun! It is funny that we almost always find marbles down there, someone years ago must have played lots of marbles and lost them into the creek bed. Toys from across the decades meet for the first time! Happy Saturday x

Through the Lens Thursday 26, Seasoned. And How the 100 Day Project is going for me.

This week’s prompt for Through the Lens Thursday is ‘Seasoned’.  Should I photo a seasoned dish (I am no food photographer, so no!)? How about some seasoning?  Maybe some herbs from the garden?  Or how about a photo about being a seasoned person? Seasoned the noun rather than the verb, I want to be a seasoned artist, I don’t want to be seasoned with salt and spices!  A seasoned parent is the route Greta at Gfunkified and one of the inventors of TTLT took.  Her lovely picture of her children is testament to her skills as a seasoned mother. This led me to thinking about the 80 days I have been involved in The 100 Day Project and whether I am becoming a seasoned mandala artist or a seasoned follower of challenges thrown out there in media land?  Probably neither, but I have been really enjoying the project and the amazing work being produced by the many many 100 day project participants.  I have stuck to it and made a new mandala every day, some …

Almost half way through the year and for some reason it doesn’t feel like it is whizzing by which makes a nice change. We are fully submerged in summer until August and always thinking of things to do which is not always easy now the kids are getting older. No-one wants to pop to the park anymore with nothing but each other and a bag of Goldfish for entertainment. Highlights of our summer to come are likely to be the ‘Minions‘ movie and going to see the polar bears in their new enclosure at the zoo.  It gets super duper hot and humid here, so we have to be out and about in the mornings before the sun becomes too melting. Some photos from the past week. 1. Following a week of constant rain some mushrooms have popped up in the woods, this Chicken of the Woods is a spectacular one and edible.  Would you eat it? 2. Teeny figures I found thrift shopping on Cape Cod, the fella with the long nose can also …

Six Word Saturday

This afternoon we went to the local library to make new action heroes (and anti heroes as it turned out!) from old figures. After years of telling my kids not to ruin their toys, here we were ripping heads and arms off to our hearts content. Lots of new creatures were created and a ton of fun was had! If you have a Six Word Saturday, feel free to share in comments or on Instagram, tagging me @girlfifteen, so I can see. Have a fab weekend!
