Vintage Instant Cameras

Firstly I hate to call these cameras ‘vintage’ as they are from the late 80’s and early 90’s and I am not able to even consider the era of my teens and early twenties as ‘vintage’.  Eeek. Anyway, I picked up three Polaroid Instant cameras at the weekend and I am eager to try them all out, see how they differ and which I like the best.  I am secretly hoping I don’t have a favourite, I want them to have their own abilities which I can use and love. So far I have put a film in the fantastic looking, bright yellow ‘Job Pro Polaroid’.  ‘The Construction Camera’. This camera was actually made and marketed to be used on construction and building sites.  It is nice and sturdy and made in the United Kingdom.  You can slide the doodad on the front to make photos lighter or darker, both of which I have tried, it makes a difference and I like the lighter best I think. I have a black and white film to …

Catseatdogs new bracelet. Testing testing.

I got these gorgeous organic shaped oval rings a while ago and it has taken a few attempts and a misguided bracelet or two to decide on this style. I love this wrap with the ring incorporated although my intention was for the wrap to be long enough to wrap the wrist five times instead of three. Need to recalculate the amount of starting thread!  Of course this is the reason I make things, test them, adjust and try again. This bracelet has been declared a success by me, so I will be making more, and they will wrap five times, unless I get it wrong again….! What do you think?  A little different for my usual wraps, but a worthy diversion which I like.

Project 365 photos 18-24

This weeks photos have thrown out a couple of surprises. I always compile them together on Monday, so some I have almost forgotten! I think my favourites this week are the vintage toy cup and the hat with the chandelier. I forgot about the cup because I was trying to photo something else which didn’t work, so that this one came out nicely was a pleasant surprise. I worked on it in Snapseed and popped on a vintage filter. The chandelier was a hard one for me to catch, I really wanted the casual hat and the decadent glass of the chandelier in just the right proportions and I think I got it in the end. As usual the photos are a mix of iPhone 4 and Canon Rebel. 18/365 Vintage toy cup. 19/365 I love how this photo turned out, a good example of the reason I always carry my phone, you never know what you might see. 20/365 Double exposure on the Hipstamatic app. 21/365 Self portrait sat on the porch with a …

Shop locally Eye candy Boutique

Small business Saturday is next week and I for one love to shop locally and small.  I count myself lucky that we can shop at local farmers markets, get bakery treats and coffee from small businesses locally and shop for fabulous things to wear at one of my favourites local businesses – Eye Candy Boutique. They are open every week, one or more days and are always happy to make appointments if you can’t make the opening hours. Check their website or facebook page and sign up for e mails to be kept up to date. I have to confess it took me a while to catch onto this little local treasure as I often walked past and saw the Eye Candy sign and wondered what it was all about. When I did go, I was not disappointed, Eye Candy has an ever changing array of fashion from accessories to cocktail dresses. Whether you are looking for jeans and a casual shirt or a full on dazzling outfit, this is the place to be. The …

Thursday selfie

It’s a rainy one today, but I am still trying to use my proper camera on manual, so I grabbed my teeny tripod and figured out the self timer and here I am.  Hello! I am wearing some CatsEatDogs wrap bracelets and a wood on leather necklace. By the way, I cannot believe that I haven’t run out of blog steam during National Blog Post Month, but onward I continue and now I am over half way.  I am rather proud! I hope the weather is better with you.  Happy Thursday!

I want to sew fabric.

I am writing this post before the main event, the star of the content, is even here. I have seen it online and I have ordered it, but I haven’t clapped eyes on it or held it in my mucky little paws yet. Fabric.  I am getting rather excited about a fabric order. I have never ordered fabric online before. When I lived in the UK, there were plenty of fabric stores to go to and check out what I needed, have a fondle and a look, match up colours and prints, that sort of thing. Here, I can’t find a decent fabric shop to save my life, I am no quilter and that seems to be the fabric of choice here in Mid West land. Never fear, there is always the wonders of the interweb, so off I went to find fabric on the computer. I threw a few together on the screen and then another lot and another. All looked good and I was doing well, what seemed like hours passed (most likely …

Catseatdogs Earth circle pendant and ombre wrap

I made a new circle pendant today using some lovely earthy colours. You know how I love making and wearing wrap bracelets.  This blue wrap bracelet starts with cream beads and moves through the tones to end with navy blue pearls, in an ombre effect.    This little smasher is a customer order, but I am going to make some more, I love the ombre look.
