One + Four = Life. Weekly Photos 38/52.

We spent a lot of time this weekend on the Metro Link around St Louis, as I don’t drive, this is my main transport when I am out and about.  There are lots of options once you are off the train around Forest Park, so we like to take full advantage. 1. On Friday we decided to visit Forest Park and include the Zoo in the trip.  As the zoo is the furthest point from the train station, we went there first.  We went to see the polar bear who was happily munching away on ice cubes which flowed from his personal ice maker in the enclosure wall.   While we were having lunch this Grackle sat eyeing up the nacho’s! 2. We made our way back across the park and decided to stop off at the St Louis Art Museum for a few minutes of air conditioning and maybe check out a couple of paintings at the same time.  Shortly after entering we got got chatting to one of the museum staff who …

1. I started a new (another one!) crochet project. I figured that if this blanket is an endless granny square, I should be able to manage it. I wonder how big it will get? It is about the size of a large doll blanket now, maybe teddy bear blanket size. 2. I have been at it again, painting garden veggies right after I picked them. 3. While we walked at Castlewood State Park this weekend I found a rock with a hole which is one of my favorite things (don’t judge). This rock has a hole and the hole is heart shaped! 4. There were also lots of fabulous clouds while we walked. Happy new week to you!

I am joining Isabel at Nanjing Nian in this week’s One+Four=Life project.  Four photos to represent the previous week in our world, lots of other bloggers will be linking up, so be sure to pop over and get a virtual world tour of photos! It has been a hot and humid week here, one of the hottest of the summer I think, or maybe it just seems that way to me as I am so over being sweaty and too hot. I have started a new book called ‘Fishbowl’ by Bradley Somer which is a great read and a nice pace which I am sprinting through.  It is one of those books which visits different characters in each chapter and often leaves a cliffhanger at the end of the chapter.  So I am zooming along to get see what happens to them all.  It is based on a group of people who all live in the same apartment block which does not sound like a page turner, but it is.  Not forgetting the goldfish who has …

One + Four = Life. Weekly Photos 24/52

We are now home from our holiday in Cape Cod and it took about 15 minutes to settle in. I love coming home from holidays as much as going! Among the photos I took last week, there seemed to be a mini theme of signs, so I picked some to share for One+Four=Life. Lots of things seem to have been in place for the past 50 years with little change on Cape Cod, including lots of cool signs. I am still wondering what a P.X. restaurant is? Do you know? Do tell. The lifeguard stands were in a car park waiting to take up their post on the beach, I took this photo amid a thick sea mist. I hope you have a fun week ahead planned! Happy Monday x

Oopsie, I am a little late for the weekly foursome, but better late than never! I have some photos from our holiday in Cape Cod for you this week. 1. Wellfleet Drive in cinema hosts a flea market at the weekends, so while we were bargain hunting, I snapped the audio and visual of the cinema. 2. This must be the tiniest library I have ever seen! 3. The famed ‘Days cottages’ on the beach at Truro. 4. We went to the closed Air Force Base at Truro which now houses the Highlands Centre. Most of the base is abandoned and cool to look around. This is one of the basketball courts all overgrown. Have a fab Tuesday!

Thanks to Pip at Meet me at Mikes for hosting One + Four = Life this week again, I didn’t take many photos this week, but I managed a few, so here are my four snaps. 1. Ice cream sweets from Grandma and Grandad in England.  Before the kids consumed them, I managed to find some funky paper in a copy of Mollie Makes for a quick photo. 2. Waterloo, Illinois under blue skies. 3. Rust and lichen on a bridge. 4. Strawberry summer cake.  I came across the recipe on Smitten Kitchen’s Facebook page and had strawberries in the fridge, so I made it.  I highly recommend this bake.  In fact I don’t think I have made anything which was disappointing from the Smitten Kitchen book or website. Wishing you all a happy Memorial Day!

1. We had a 14th birthday this week, yikes a proper teenager in the house now! I made a Strawberry Shortcake Ice cream cake for the occasion. 2. Some of my lavender is catching up with some growing, but this end of the lavender bed is doing so well, I can’t wait to harvest some this year for lavender bags. 3. We went to the Missouri Botanical Gardens this weekend and saw some more lanterns, I love these dandelion clocks (I am not sure that is what they are supposed to be, but that is what they look like to me!). They were super sparkly in the sunshine. 4. While at the gardens we went to visit the koi carp in the Japanese garden where you can buy 25 cents worth of food to throw in. Some of them are giants and look at those mouths all ready for food! I am joining with Meet Me at Mikes for this week’s One+Four=Life post, pop over there to see more snapshots of weeks around the world.

For this week’s four photos, it was a hard choice and it made a nice change to have choice! Don’t you find that a week will pass and you have taken hardly any photos, yet another week, you have been a clicking demon and have no end of snaps to choose from! I have had a week of field trips, on Tuesday I went to southern Illinois to Waterloo and my friend’s new shop Philomela and Ruth. On Wednesday I went out with some friends to the Missouri Botanical Gardens and saw the blooming irises which were all amazing. They were also setting up the Lantern Festival ready for the event to start at the end of May. I think the lantern display is as impressive during the day as it would be all lit up at night. So much work goes into it all, we will be visiting again once all the lanterns are up and running later this month. Photos – 1. Wall art at ‘Philomena and Ruth’. 2. One of a gaggle …

Joining in with the ever gorgeous Pip at Meet Me at Mikes for this week’s ‘One+Four=Life project – one week, four photos! 1.  Pablo the French Bulldog came for a walk to school and found himself a tennis ball! 2. It was Field Day this week and a lovely day was had. 3. and 4. At the weekend we went to a sale at a local antiques mall and picked up a couple of bargains, left the cow there although she was pretty cool! Have a fab week!  Happy Star Wars Day.

One+Four=Life 17/52

I am joining in with Pip at Meet Me at Mikes this week for One+Four=Life, a snapshot of the previous week using four photos. Bit of a cheater cheater pumpkin eater on this one as all of mine are from one day. We went to the State Capitol at Jefferson City with school on a beautiful blue sky day and toured some of the capital buildings. The kids were well behaved (phew!) and we had a lovely day full of information and fun. On the way back I snapped a few pictures from the bus window, I do love Missouri countryside, there is always so much to see. 1. I wanted to get more photos of the magnificent capitol building, the white against the blue sky was a stunning contrast. Remember Mum, you are here to look after the kids, not snap photos! 2. The corridors all looked like a scene from a TV show! 3. Amazing murals in the lounge depicting Missouri history. 4. Closed gas station caught with a tanker speeding by, taken …
