‘I like’ Friday. The Crochet Edition.

Making stuff is the best thing! I haven’t pulled out my crochet for a couple of weeks and today I thought I would hook a few stitches onto one of my blankets in progress. I have two blankets on the go because one was getting big and I wanted to take a crochet project on vacation earlier in the summer. So I started a new blanket and a new stitch to take away with me. The ‘vacation’ blanket which is at very early stages in size, is made using ripple stitch and I am very proud of myself for managing a new stitch!  The pattern is here if you fancy a go. The grey blanket is a giant granny square and I am starting with dark grey in the middle and getting lighter as I work my way out to the full size blanket.  The pattern is from the book ‘Craft for the Soul’ by Pip Lincolne.   1.We spotted this guy as we walked to school through the woods.  I love the pattern on his shell. 2.More gelli plate goodness using grasses from my back garden. I printed on regular paper, old book pages and deli paper. 3&4. I went to the Missouri Botanical Gardens with some friends and we managed to catch the beauty before a massive storm marched through. 5. This weekend my youngest and I went for a paddle in the creek.  The water was very shallow so we managed to get further than we usually walk.  We found some old  shards of pots and a fossil or two. 6. We now have a 15 year old and I made some cupcakes with orange butter cream. 7. And I made some confetti cookies using a wonderful recipe from Smitten Kitchen. It was super easy and they look and taste fabulous!  Perfect for a teen birthday. I had a good week and I hope you did too. I am still processing the Blog Conference I attended over the weekend …

Ten on the tenth October 2013

I have decided to take all of the photos this month using the Hipstamatic Oggl app.  I like that you can add Hipstamatic filters after the photo has been taken.  I have limited lenses and films though as I haven’t handed any cash over to become a member.  It was a warm Autumnal day yesterday, so I got lots of leaf shots! Pablo and I went for a little walk in the sunshine and we got some leafy photos and stopped at the water fountains for drinks. I made a birthday cake which sat in the cupboard hiding!  I used Smitten Kitchen’s chocolate cake recipe which was excellent as are all of her recipes.  In fact I also used a SK recipe for the apple muffins which are also in a photo here.  I just added some caramel pieces to the recipe. March ten on the tenth.

Raining again for ten on the tenth,  I can’t believe that it has rained on the 10th of each month this year.  I wonder if it will rain on the 10th of every month?  We shall see I am taking all of the photos today on my iPhone 4S and cropping and adding clarity to each in the Camera+ app. I will be consistent in each photo and see which works best by number ten. Today  is Mothering Sunday in the UK, so happy Mother’s Day to all you Mamas! Oh look, it’s raining.  The Rosemary is having a lovely time in the rain. My new read ‘Astrid and Veronika’ by Linda Olsson. It is raining today, but getting 10 photos shouldn’t be a problem. This morning started off with a big thunderstorm and lots of rain. I found about 10 pairs of 3D glasses in the drawer, so Bodhi decided to put as many on as would stay! ‘Snack packs’ of Custard Cremes with a cup of tea. My first cookery book ‘My learn to Cook Book’ circa nineteen seventy something. I love the illustrations and 1970’s ingredients like cochineal! Yum, beetles… I remembers making lots of recipes from this book with the cooking cat and dog. A Knicker-bocker Glory was a birthday must. New gym togs is always motivation.
