Weekly photos 2017 17/52

One photo this week! I can’t believe I have not taken any pictures apart from photos of stuff for the 100 day project to post on Instagram.  I clearly need to get out more! I took this very bad shot because I am having my hair cut this week and I have decided to get lots chopped off.  Not super short but most likely jaw length, maybe a little longer.  So I thought I would have a look at how it looks now before the cut! I never ever ever wear it down because it gets in the way and I will tie it up within minutes and I am not sure about the long grey hair look for me.  The grey hair in a ponytail or wrapped into a mini bun I like, but I want something different, so that means a few inches off. I can’t believe I have kept it long for such a long time, I usually grow it down to about shoulder length then get it cut short then grow …

Grey hair, naturally.

My hair has been all grey for over a year now and I could’t be happier with it.  The tones and shades in the colour seem to shift regularly according to the style and light.  I have darker hair in my original brown but even that seems to have altered it’s colour and tone to blend with the greys which also move from silver white to pewter grey. Is there anything different about having all out grey hair when most people my age are regularly dyeing, tinting, highlighting, low lighting, bleaching and streaking (please tell me no-one asks for streaks anymore)? So, what has changed? I am fanatical about conditioning my hair when I wash it, which is only twice or three times a week now. I also add a hair oil when my hair is damp,  which highlights the very light areas of my hair as well as keeping any frizz at bay. My wardrobe consists of less grey, or I at least make sure I add some colour if I end up wearing …

‘I Like’ Friday. The natural grey edition.

I decided to grow out my grey a couple of years ago, inspired by a good friend of mine who has the most gorgeous grey hair.  I was pushed to bite the bullet when some online friends decided they were going to embark on the same ship.  We pushed off and ditched the dye. I wrote a post when I started my journey here and I updated as I sailed along and I landed on grey hair island happy as a clam. Even though growing out hideous roots is an aesthetically painful process, best bet is to avoid mirrors and heaven forbid, no photos!  There is one photo of me at a friend’s party and my hair looks just awful, but I was almost half way by that time, so I  looked away and carried on. As my hair grew, the red dye (what was I thinking) faded too, so the contrast became less.  I still wasn’t prepared for the final colour though.  What I wasn’t prepared for was how much I loved it.  My fabulous …

Grey Hair, Don’t Care.

Here I am to report on the hair situation. It is all grey, not even a teeny bit of dye left, it has been that way for a couple of months now and I like it! I also like that I don’t have to dye it at all ever ever ever again, although I have been thinking about going purple which may colour the grey bits or it may not.  Either way purple would be a temporary move. At the beginning of the summer, I wondered if the sun and heat would alter the colour at all, make it yellow or dry it to a frizz, but I seem to have got away with it because neither has happened.  Phew! It is in great condition and I am super happy about that even when it is at it’s most floppy and unco-operative, bearing in mind that in my world of hair styling, unruly hair means it won’t tuck beind my ear and stay out of my eyes. Did you see that Kate Middleton has …
