Weekly Photos 26/52.

1. I had a little chat with the local owl this week as he sat on a branch and looked at me over his back. I love that owls can turn their head all the round to face the other way! 2. This tray was in a antique mall and I like the buildings on it and the style in which they are drawn. I didn’t buy the tray, but snapped a photo, so maybe I can get inspiration from it to draw my own cute buildings. 3. The creek has flooded up and down so much lately we haven’t been exploring for a while, but we went for a paddle this weekend and said ‘Hi’ to Mrs Duck and her ducklings as they swam and waddled by us. 4. A mandala and the mess I make when I am drawing and painting them! I hope you had a good week, the weather here had been a bit bonkers, storms and sun and heat and hail! Hopefully this next week will be more settled. We …

Through The Lens Thursday #25. Tie.

It has rained pretty much non stop for the last week which means that the garden is growing and I seem to have wet feet all of the time! It is still warm though, so it is time to bring out the summer bracelets. I made these two last year and there are lots of knots involved in each one. I had to tie a lot of knots! The next prompt for Through the Lens Thursday is ‘Seasoned’.

One + Four = Life. Weekly Photos 24/52

We are now home from our holiday in Cape Cod and it took about 15 minutes to settle in. I love coming home from holidays as much as going! Among the photos I took last week, there seemed to be a mini theme of signs, so I picked some to share for One+Four=Life. Lots of things seem to have been in place for the past 50 years with little change on Cape Cod, including lots of cool signs. I am still wondering what a P.X. restaurant is? Do you know? Do tell. The lifeguard stands were in a car park waiting to take up their post on the beach, I took this photo amid a thick sea mist. I hope you have a fun week ahead planned! Happy Monday x

Through The Lens Thursday #24 Car

I have been on the look out for a good car shot all week and I have to say this is not my favourite photo of all time, but it is a car and not the rental mini van we have had all holiday! I like the look of old beat up cars and trucks, but they are few and far between here on Cape Cod. This was taken at Chatham airport and most likely belongs to someone who has just popped out for a jaunt in his (or her) private plane! Next week is ‘tie’, so I am on the look out for tied things, or maybe a tie. Happy Thursday!

Through The Lens Thursday #20. Round.

I didn’t realize how many round things are in my ‘I like this’ department.  I like my wood rings from Philomena and Ruth, my silver rings made by Kate McKinnon, the two charms on leather which I made yesterday and the string of beads which I will most likely fashion into a bracelet for the summer.  Lots of things to like. I find that I tend to wear the same things for a while, then move onto something else.  At the minute I am definitely into my wood rings and I love a casual leather cord with something gorgeous on it, simply tied at the back. What is your ‘go to’ wearable at the minute?  A favorite scarf or shoes, rings or lipstick!  I am trying to be a big girl and wear lipstick and make up more.  When I say lipstick, I mean tinted lip balm, baby steps. Happy Thursday! Through the Lens Thursday details are here and next week is ‘negative space’ which I assume doesn’t mean the naughty corner….!

Through The Lens Thursday 18/52. Upside Down

I took this prompt very seriously indeed.  I thought and thought about what I could take for upside down and ended up laying in my back garden with my head upside down and taking a photo of the grass and the white flowers which currently reside there. Let me tell you, it is not easy trying to set camera numbers and settings and look and press buttons while upside down in grass which really needs mowing.  Yes, my grass needs cutting, but the white flowers are all over it and so pretty, I can’t do it (or won’t do it, I will leave judgement up to you!). I suppose I could have made it easier on myself and just taken the photo right way up and flipped it afterwards, but no, I wanted to fully experience the upside down and bugs eye view (if you are an upside down bug) of the world! There were some shots which were a mite more in focus than this one, but I slapped the f stop right …

One+Four=Life 17/52

I am joining in with Pip at Meet Me at Mikes this week for One+Four=Life, a snapshot of the previous week using four photos. Bit of a cheater cheater pumpkin eater on this one as all of mine are from one day. We went to the State Capitol at Jefferson City with school on a beautiful blue sky day and toured some of the capital buildings. The kids were well behaved (phew!) and we had a lovely day full of information and fun. On the way back I snapped a few pictures from the bus window, I do love Missouri countryside, there is always so much to see. 1. I wanted to get more photos of the magnificent capitol building, the white against the blue sky was a stunning contrast. Remember Mum, you are here to look after the kids, not snap photos! 2. The corridors all looked like a scene from a TV show! 3. Amazing murals in the lounge depicting Missouri history. 4. Closed gas station caught with a tanker speeding by, taken …

Through The Lens Thursday #14. Box.

Boxes, boxes, boxes, so many box options! I settled on a jewelry box which is super old and from my Grandma. I love it, the shabby picture on the top and the slot in the side to use as a money box and the bottom which is made from paper (maybe for lost key emergencies!). The book it is sitting on is a copy of National Heritage which I picked up today, it is from 1949 and chock full of paintings and information. Fantastic stuff! Next week’s prompt is ‘Baked’, so I had better get baking – oh, what a shame…! More information on Through the Lens Thursday including a list of prompts can be found here.
