5/52 Weekly Photos, Yellow and Living Arrows

This week I tried to find cool yellow things which is hard.  All I could see was road markings and traffic signs.  Then, at the weekend, we went to the Upcycle Exchange where they sell all sorts of crafty bits and bobs as well as vintage fabric-ness.  I found the lovely spotted yellow scarf there and continued to find all sorts of yellow through the day! So my yellow train barriers and fire hydrant had some yellow company.  Thanks to Hula Seventy and Xanthe Berkeley for hosting this  colourful photo gathering opportunity. Onto the weekly photos.  This week has been cold and sunny and cold and cloudy and rainy then icy!  We had a very slippery walk to karate on Friday evening. At one point Mr.Y and I both went down on a sloping drive, every time we tried to get up, down we went.   The giggling may not have helped, but crawling and sliding to the grass verge did help us get up!    Sorry, no photos of that.  I do have photos …

4/52 Weekly Photos

February is only a week away.  Phew hold onto 2014, it is flying by!  Are you managing to keep up? I am keeping up with a few new things which I am pleased about. A new thing I found over at Hula Seventy was the weekly colour photo join-in-along with Xanthe.   Last week was Red, so here are my red photos.  I like red as a highlight colour, red boots, red bracelet or red hair, not so much an all over colour. I don’t like red pens at all, not even as a method of highlighting.  I will only use a red pen if I need to draw a red something, a poppy or a heart.  Never never never for writing or communicating, too aggressive on the page for my liking. Maybe too much of a flashback from school homework marking, red pen all over the place.  Positive or negative, all red pen.  Green pens would have been be a way more pleasant way to communicate especially on kids homework.  I wonder if I …

2/52 Weekly photos 2014

Two weeks and no bevvies for me!  Wooohooo.  I just hope that I will be able to announce two months and keep going through the year.  How are your resolutions going?  I can’t really remember the rest of mine to be honest.  That can’t be a good sign. The snow stayed nearly all week and after a nice downpour has nearly all gone now.   Yay.  The sun is out and temps are almost ‘no coat’ this week. I got some pictures of some frost and snow, sweeties and left over Christmas lights.  All of the photos are taken on the iPhone 4. I made some Harissa paste and used all of these chillies!  I am thinking I just made chilli paste to be honest.  It wasn’t as head blowingly hot as I thought it would be.  Pretty good with some salmon though. Digging out the snow cave.  Snowy seeds looking all pretty.Blackberry coffee cake.  Yums. Sweeties galore.

I am going back to compiling a selection of weekly photos rather than taking a photo a day. I found myself taking any old nonsense just to get a snap taken. Usually I do end up with a photo a day, but not always a share worthy one! So here is this week’s round up. I found an icy heart, clear reflections, made mince pies, it snowed, Mr.Y chatted to Santa and we built a snow fort. What will this week bring I wonder?

This weeks photos have thrown out a couple of surprises. I always compile them together on Monday, so some I have almost forgotten! I think my favourites this week are the vintage toy cup and the hat with the chandelier. I forgot about the cup because I was trying to photo something else which didn’t work, so that this one came out nicely was a pleasant surprise. I worked on it in Snapseed and popped on a vintage filter. The chandelier was a hard one for me to catch, I really wanted the casual hat and the decadent glass of the chandelier in just the right proportions and I think I got it in the end. 11/365  I was taking photos of the rake in the leaves to practice with my camera and the dog wandered in to glare at the rake. 12/365.  Beyond frost this morning, straight on to icy.  I caught the ice on the fallen leaves with my iPhone using Camera+.  I messed about with it in Snapseed on the iPad. 13/365.  Pickle the cat deciding whether to come in or not. 14/365.  You always knew there was a feet shot coming!  Here it is, with pom poms. 15/365.  The finished pom pom fox hiding out in the woods. 16/365.  A cloudy day peeking up at the bird feeder. 17/365.  I spotted the climbing pink leaves behind the bins and had to snap a photo with the phone. 4/365 5/365 6/365 7/365 8/365 9/365 10/365 Ten photos done, only 355 to go!  Still sounds a lot, even to a shutterbug such as myself!  Some days I hardly get a shot at all and some days I can’t decide which to use.  Yesterday (10/365) was a decision day.  It was such a beautiful day I think I could have pointed my camera in any direction and got a lovely shot.  I posted more from the day as part of my regular Ten on the 10th post. Are you doing the Project 365 challenge?  How is it going?  I am happy to be using my Canon Rebel on manual for some of the photos I am posting and quite proud of myself!  Some will always come from the iPhone 4 just because it is often all I have with me.  The frosty leaf for 8/365 is a perfect example of this, by the time I had gone to fetch my camera the frost would have melted and I am not sure I could have got …

NaBloPoMo and Project 365

I rather hope I haven’t bitten off more than I can chew this November.  I have taken on two ‘challenges’ both of which are blog related (no, I am not participating in Mo’vember, there will be no facial hair in my future).    I am hoping that I will improve in my blog post writing this month and my photos will improve in a year long project which happens to start today. No  matter how much I would love to write a book when I grow up, it is most likely not going to be a novel, so although NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) would be an amazing way to kick start that novel, I will not be the author.  However the fine folk at WordPress and Blog Her are joining forces this year for this year’s November of NaBloPoMo (National Blog Post Month) which is within my capabilities I think.  I hope anyway, I will let you know in about a month!
