The August break, joining in with film photos.

I am joining in with Susannah Conway this year again and taking a photo a day for The August Break. There are daily prompts which can be taken on whichever camera you may choose. I am lucky enough to have a Minolta 35mm camera from 1980 something, so I am planning to take each photo with that. So unless I also take a digital picture too, I won’t be posting everyday until I get the film developed. Hopefully I will snap other photos with my camera along the way, and use up the film so that I can get them printed a couple of times during August and see what I came up with. Will I get a serious case of ‘fear of missing out’ if I don’t post an Instagram August Break picture daily? Maybe, but I think I will just stick to the film camera and see how they come out. Hopefully not all out of focus or wrongly exposed. Just think, this is how we took all photos only a few years …

Create like No-one is Watching.

Do you create and make for no apparent reason?  Is that ok?  Ok to draw or paint or sew for no reason other than to do it, to practice? Maybe this is a good life lesson, get the equipment and a little guidance and get going.  Try and create as if no-one is watching and no-one cares how it turns out.  Don’t you always feel the pressure to do everything well or wonder why you are bothering?  If I get asked to do or make a specific thing, I get all nervous and jittery and worried that it won’t be good enough.  Will it break, be the right colour, will it be in focus?  If I just grab a handful of beads and tell myself that I will keep it if it does not turn out, or if I pick up my phone and snap a few practice shots, guess what, it often turns out and I feel great about my project. If it doesn’t turn out so well, at least I know I need …

10 Tips for taking a photo a day, every day.

I started to participate in  a ‘photo a day’ project back in September 2012,  I followed prompts from Fat Mum Slim and Hipstamatic and I used so many filters!  Good grief, enough with the filters!  But, I did it, I completed a month and then I carried on and I got into the habit of taking a photo a day.  I suppose I really ‘posted’ a photo a day, some days I take a ton of photos and some days it is only the one for my photo a day project. I settled on the Fat Mum Slim prompts, but every so often I add in a month of other prompts if I find them appealing, so I will end up with two photos posted per day!  Here are a few 365 project originators to choose from.
