A month of Tinkersketch drawing challenge

Through the month of February I joined in with Rachelle from Tinkerlab for the Tinkersketch drawing challenge.  Prompts were provided along with ideas for each day, sketchbooks were grabbed and art was created. I decided to use an old book discarded from the library as my sketchbook and I had filled it by the end of the month.  I didn’t use every page because I used all kinds of media which invariably ruined the next page or two. Here are some of my favorite pages from my little vintage book as sketchbook.  I quite like that I ended up with lots of bugs scuttling across my pages! Day 2. Mirror. Day 7. Repetition. Day 5. Tiny Doodle. Day 11. Stamp. I used a squashed cardboard roll to stamp hearts. Day 14. Hearts. Day 15. Sky.  Watercolor with masking fluid and pen and a collaged moon. Day 19. Junk Mail. Day 27. Mismatched. Day 29. Torn Paper. The final prompt which was ‘torn paper’ was completed on the very last page of the book. Thanks to Rachelle …

1. I went to see Twenty One Pilots in concert this weekend with my teen.  They are so good live, they put on an amazing show and they are funny and chatty too.  I do like some entertaining chat when I see bands live, nothing more boring than a band who just warbles through their back catalogue then leaves.  There is nothing boring about a Twenty One Pilots concert, and not to sound like a middle aged mama, but I just love that they don’t swear every other word.  Most bands seem to think they have to ‘f and blind’ (now I sound like a right old fart) the whole way through their set. Not true!  I took this photo using the Hipstamatic app on my iPhone. 2. On Sunday morning there was a bit of fog hanging about so I went out for a little walk into the woods to see if the fog was worth a photo.  No fog to speak of, it was all in the tops of the trees, but the …

‘I like’ Fridays.

This week I am liking lots of things, the arctic weather we are having is not one of them! Check out this fab post about making your very own font from Tiny Rotten Peanuts.  I am going to give this a go this weekend. There are some good t shirts for Red Nose Day this year, my Mum is sending me the Matthew Williamson ‘Do my Feathers Look Big in This?’  one, because I am spoiled! I am still having a blast with the Tinkersketch challenge, I might just finish the month! There is a plan in my brain to do my own personal challenge through March – a hand lettering practice.  You should join in too!  More info next week (when I have figured it out…) The book I am reading is a really good one – Ella and Otto and Russell and James by Emma Hooper. I have been obsessively making this bread which just needs throwing together the night before.  Perfect for weekend breakfast. What have you been liking this week?  Lots …

Sketching with the Tinkersketch challenge.

For the month of February I have been joining in with Tinkerlab and doing the Tinkersketch daily challenge. I tried it last year and only made it part way through the month. This year I am loving it! We are half way through February (yikes) and I am still going strong. I see some of the sketches on the #tinkersketch feed and these folks can draw, I mean really draw, their quick sketch is an accurate portrayal. I am more a shapes and colour kinda artist! That said I am very happy with what Tinkersketch has pulled out of my idea cache and I am looking forward to the rest of the month. If you want to see what everyone has been creating, check out the #tinkersketch hashtag over on Instagram. My favourite sketchers to follow are @squiggleandswirl, @soulsk8r, @annofdoodlesandjots, @daintydora, @markonthemark and of course @tinkerlab. Do you like to draw and sketch and make marks generally? I have only really just started to fill sketchbooks again and I am getting so many ideas, not …

  1.  I pass these dried Hydrangeas almost every day and I love how they still look so gorgeous even when they are all dry. 2. I snapped the full moon this week.  Look at the mega bright star just above it! 3. We found this walnut shell on the way to school and thought it looked like an owl. 4. I made some ginger molasses cookies. 5. A selection of the smells we will be using to make body balm and solid perfumes.  I can’t wait to get making and testing! 6. I also make pizza for dinner, mine is piled up with onions, mushrooms and kale. 7. I am loving the Tinkerlab February challenge, this one was following the prompt ‘Fairytale’.  I found an old paperback of Hans Christian Andersen tales at an estate sale so I drew in it! Have a wonderful and fantastic week!
