It is getting hot here.  Mornings are still cool which is a wonderful thing.  The sky is blue and the seeds are growing.  I want to get some veggie plants, just deciding which ones to choose?  What do you grow?  Tomatoes? Peppers? Herbs? I think I will get all of those. 1. I had a little sit in the garden this week with a copy of Bella Grace magazine and a cup of tea.  While I was there I snapped the view! 2. These white flowers pop up every spring all over our garden.  Pretty. 3. The clay beads are ready to fire. I hope they make it! I deliberately made plenty in case some pop in the kiln. 4. I managed to get a rather cool photo of the moon through the telescope we borrowed from the library.  This was taken in the early evening when we could see the moon but it wasn’t yet dark. 5. We also spotted Mr Cardinal in the tree! Happy Monday!  Have a wonderful week x

So far I think we are having a chilly spring compared to recent years.  I am sure it is usually warmer than this here in the mid-west by the middle of April.  No complaints though, you never know, the summer might not be so brutal. I don’t know what any of these flowers are, but they are pretty and all over the park floor.  I got to stand among them for a while as the dog had a sniff about. I borrowed the paper cutter in the library to chop up my new coloring postcards this week. Some trees are still blooming, this pink one at the park is a stunner. I finished ‘A Man Called Ove’, and I love love loved it.  It is such a good read, Ove is a wonderful character.  It is funny, thoughtful and a great story. I got some clay to play with and I made some beads and pendants, fingers crossed that they all turn out, or at least most of them!  I will be sure to update …

This week saw a fifth grade field trip, new perfumes, cleaning up the local woods and park and a sunny hike on Sunday.  Not bad! 1. I helped out with the fifth grade field trip to ‘Junior Achievement BizTown’ on Monday.  The kids all had jobs and ran a ‘business’ for the day.  My team at Ameren/Peabody were great, they had a good day and worked hard. 2 & 3. I am working on some new scents for solid perfumes which is always super fun.  I really like the orange blossom and basil one. These solid scents are great to chuck in your gym bag for a quick uplift and they are perfect for travel because they are not liquid, and they are home made so I can mix up my own scent combination. 4. It was a lovely sunny morning on Saturday for the REI and Brentwood Parks annual clean up. We all got started with a coffee and a doughnut, grabbed a massive trash bag and off we went.  The woods and creek …

1. We walked to an Estate Sale locally this weekend, it was a 2 mile walk each way, but on such a lovely blue sky day, we didn’t mind.  I loved this study and look at that fantastic wallpaper. 2. On the way home from the sale we took a short detour to snap a photo of this sign.  I have admired the arrow for ages now and with this blue sky, how could I resist. 3. A flock of Grape Hyacinths at Forest Park, taken on Easter Sunday. 4. Trees on Art Hill in Forest Park. 5. St Louis Art Museum and the Grand Basin in Forest Park. 6. Lovely willow trees near a bridge in Forest Park. What a pretty weekend it was.  I hope you had a lovely week and weekend. Happy Monday x

Spring sprang yesterday officially and we woke up to snow on the ground!  After a week of sunshine and mild temperatures, I pulled out my boots again. 1. I have been trying to keep up with a sketch a day project over at Skillshare, but I seem to be leaving it for a week at a time then doing all the drawings/paintings in one day to catch up.  March doesn’t seem to be the month for a daily challenge. 2. I have been obsessing about the flowers in my garden lately, it is so lovely to see them, I can’t helping recording them.  Here I sketched some magnolia flowers with my pencil crayons in a kraft paper sketchbook. 3 & 4. The light was creeping in slowly the morning I took these two photos. 5. The star magnolia is all abloom! I hope you had a good week.  Happy Monday x

1. The star magnolia is starting to bloom. 2. We got a new dog and her name is Ruby!  She is a rescue and a cutie. 3. I made an Easter card using watercolours, a white Gelly Roll pen and a blue Micron pen. 4. My neighbor has a beautiful magnolia tree which is blooming and looking amazing. 5. I bought the new Bella Grace this week, it is a magazine extravagance but I really enjoy it. 6. I managed to snap the magnolia last night with the night-time clouds in the background. Everything is starting to bloom now, just starting, the daffodils are peeking out and some trees are in bloom and some are just budding.  My neighbor’s magnolia smells just gorgeous, especially on a rainy evening. I hope you had a lovely week and are about to have an even better one! Happy Monday x

Looking at these photos, all of them have library connections!  I have had a library week. 1. A side alley and side building in Clayton, MO.  I took this on the way back from the library where I had just picked up some new books. I liked the ‘windows’ and the sunlight. 2. This book was heading back to the library but I liked the idea of the feather/leaf potato prints, so I took a photo of the page to refer to later. 3. On the way to my local library and I enjoyed this magnificent sunset. 4. This is why I was heading to the library, mug decorating craft night. All supplies were provided and the even was free, how cool is the library! 5. Later in the week I got a tour of the ‘below library’ storage area where there is this rather fab, if precarious spiral staircase. It used to go directly to the fire house which was once housed above the library.  I wouldn’t fancy navigating these stairs in full fire …

Another barmy week of St Louis weather!  Temperatures ranging from the high 70’s at the weekend to a snow day on Wednesday. We have settled in the 50’s and 60’s for the time being, but who can tell! This final week of February has seen the last of the Tinkersketch prompts (I am writing a post this week about this challenge) and the end of my month of drawing houses.  I seem to be jumping onto the monthly challenges this year and March sees the beginning of another sketch a day challenge hosted by Creative Bug and presented by Pam Garrison. Sketchbook at the ready! 1. Ice cream in the warm weather, with the essential hundreds and thousands. 2. We woke up to a snow day on Wednesday. 3. I made some lemon and lime lip balms, they smell so fresh and lovely! 4 and 5. I couldn’t resist buying a fabulous romanesco which we ate dipped in ranch and the rest was added to a stir fry. All after I snapped some photos! I …

It has been a week of weather and appointments.  The kids were off on Monday for President’s Day, then one had a sick day on Tuesday. I had an ultrasound appointment on Wednesday which is always nerve wracking, but it went fine and all clear.  Then on Thursday the youngest had his yearly check up at the pediatricians. Phew! By Friday we were happy to have the school field trip to the Missouri Botanical Gardens to look forward to.  It was a glorious day, warm and sunny and the gardens were a-buzz with staff working on the flower beds and general maintenance. Of course the outdoor plants are not blooming yet, but we had the privilege of seeing the orchid show which was stunning.  After that, we had a tour with a lovely guide around the indoor climatron.  The kids were great and we had a super time! The weekend was a boiler (for February) as temperatures leapt up to 78 degrees.  T shirts were out! Photos – 1. I worked on my art journal …

Weekly Photos 6/52

This week I have been arting all over the place!  I am taking a few classes and learning lots which is always a wonderful thing.  I saw lots of feathers on Instagram through the week and discovered the #IFDrawAWeek and joined in with the ‘feather’ week. 1. I passed this historic house as I walked to the doctors this week, I find it strange that it is just there on the side of the road.  It used to have a sign I think, but that has gone now.  There is sits, being old, but still majestic. I love the blue walls. 2. On the way back from the doctors I walked passed the local ‘lake’ which was looking very pretty in the cold and ice.  Remember folks, don’t feed the ducks. 3. I made some stencils this week and had a lovely time messing about with them in my art journal. 4. Ikea was our destination this weekend, where we bought various useful things for the house like shelves and mugs! I liked these clouds …
